Looking really good mate i love the red on the skirt but i would definately listen to the advice the super painters on here offer. Still not started mine not much time at minute.

The skirt looks pretty good in the latest photo. However, I suspect that if you take a step back or change the angle of your lighting, it will look quite a bit flatter.

Of course, it depends on what you are going for. Do you want a figure that pops on the tabletop or one that looks good in close-up photography? I struggle to find the balance myself.

Its great considering you havent been painting long. the skirt is really well done.
The frilly bits need a bit more definition and highlights could do with a few more layers but all in all its very good.

Smaller pics when you submit this for a vote will help. Big pics are nice but very unflattering.

coming along nicely - only one thing catches my attention really - the towel over her arm - if youare going to keep it that colour, i would darken the creases just a bit

Further update, have added some highlights to skirt and top, done some work on the towel and on the tankards and jug...I\'ve also *attempted* to sort out the skintone, but skin isn\'t a strong point and I\'m not happy with it, but don\'t know what to do now!

Also, my daylight photography isn\'t up to much... I\'m sure I was a vampirette in a previous life, things go so much better at night:rolleyes:

As ever, comments, hints and tips VERY welcome:D

@Charlie- Nice comments, thanks! I think it\'ll be a week or so before she\'s \'finished\' enough for me to be happy to post her for voting:rolleyes:

@freakinacage- I have grand plans for a diorama with lots of HF villagers on it, but will probably have an attempt at a \'sawdust and spit\' floorboards type base for her in the meantime:D

ayla, i remember a while back you said you wished you could paint as good as me. you are definitely there. i feel this piece is quite nice. i look on here every day and say the same thing. but honestly the blending is coming along quite nicely. the skin does bother me. have you thought of doing a very light purple glaze to the skin to bring out the tones a bit more evenly? this would also get rid of the somewhat chalky coloring of the paint on the face. the rest is just wonderful. keep up the GREAT work!!

:):):)

Big grin on MY face:D Thanks Uberdark!

Funnily enough I\'ve just washed the skin with a very watery glaze of elf flesh and purple ink whilst waiting for the computer to boot up... that chalky-ness is *exactly* what I don\'t like.

Gonna keep working on her til either she\'s right, or ends up chucked through the window.... god help the glazinglol

I must admit my own personal failing for like forever has been chalky skin. For me its one of those things that just kept on giving me hassle.

Of late though, ive given the old purple glaze/wash and it helps a lot. I also am thining down my flesh colours a lot more as I apply them and this seems to help a lot as well.

Ayla, the model is looking real nice now though. The last lot of highlights have most definately helped the model come along. I think a diorama would work well.. Bar room brawls Yeehar!

Looking at your progress so far on the model, I think your glazing is safe for now :D

Well guys, I *think* she\'s nearly finished and ready for the voting pages....???

Apart from the obvious \'touch ups\' that are needed, and the need for a base, can anyone offer any advice for anything else I need to do to \'finish\' her?

ayla i would highly reccomend to work on the hair. it seems to be the one thing holding it back. try and add more layering to the colors on the hair and it should be fine. as for the skin i think it looks pretty good.. just add one or two more highlights and all is good.

take it easy.

she really is coming along. just a couple of ideas - as uberdark said, her hair could do with some more depth. maybe some highlights on top of the waves? also, some darklining could help the colours \'pop\' a little more especially where her skin meets the fabric

Thanks for your replies guys!

I was dreading someone mentioning the hair, and two of you have... guess I\'ll be doing some more work on that then:rolleyes:

As to your suggestion Freak... darklining? You have to be joking... I\'d wreck it! Will save that for a time when I\'m more confident I think!:D
