High elf freehand!

What would pose as a striking symbolic for freehands on High elf shields/robes/whatever has enough space (dependant on the trooptype).
What I am currently thinking of is seadragons, Phoenix\'s, flames anda ashes, high elf symbols. What more could I use? This is sort of an inspiration:

Oh and the coulor scheme is Red armour - Green cloth.

Thanks!

High elves: Noble, haughty, loyal etc

So any creature or symbol related to the same characteristics.

I would be careful with forest creatures/plants though as they are more wood elf.

Well, if you are using red and green I\'d be awfully tempted to use SantaClause.

I like bears or lions personally. Odd geometric shapes work too. If you are fanatical you could copy some muslim caligraphy.

If you\'re really fanatical you could learn Tengwar, an use that for freehand inspiration.

Personally I am sick of the traditional sea serpents, hearts on fire, phoenix (pheoni? Phoenixes?), etc.

I believe the plural of phoenix is phoenix - like sheep. I could be wrong. I dont really care :p

You could always just use a high elf lettering symbol, theres loads in the codex.

Or paint a gem, like a tear drop shape with gold edging or something.

actually Lions would be quite cool, seeing as how you have units of White Lions in the high elf army. alternatively dragons are really cool on the high elf armies i have seen. Failing that write out a lot of runes so it looks like warded equipment!

Hmmm... so would a bunch of Phoenix be a heard then?

Had an idea for freehand. Elves are supposed to be the most ancient of the races (well besides the Slaan, so make that one of the most ancient races). So do some artwork based on historical ancient artwork. Things like Knotwork, Norse style Dragons, that black on orange ancient Greek/Roman vase art (can\'t remember the name for the life of me, my wife would kill me), perhaps even Tribal.

I think we need to be anal about this - the plural of phoenix is... _____.
There is NO plural of phoenix. There is only one phoenix and when it dies it consumes itself in flames and when the ashes are swept away there\'s an egg that hatches into the new phoenix.
That\'s the legend of the phoenix - so no, no flock, herd or murder of the phoenix.

Now, if you are trying to use the linguistic form to invent a plural for some reason, I guess it would be phoenices like matrix/matrices, index/indeces, vertex/vertices.

p.s. My HE army doesn\'t have White Lions. It has White Rabbits.

Of course I would start with a small landscape scene. A rocky crag, with spire like towers atop it... The sun is rising behind and at the top of the tallest tower, a massive gem gleams in the sunlight....

A stream gently trickling over the rocks in the foreground with a deer and it\'s youngster taking a drink .........
not forgetting of course the whole landscape has an early morning dew settled upon it.....

Ooooh nice addition. The stream would totally make the scene. Is this for a shield or something smaller LOL

To continue the grammar discussion (didn\'t feel like quoting)

I decided to get even more anal and look it up.

Wow, there is quite the debate on this out there. Most say either Phoenixes or Phoenix but there are plenty saying that it\'s a proper noun so there is no plural.

I personally like Poenicies, it just sounds cool to say.

Okay back on topic: Elven Freehand -> Music notes? Rainbows? How about different happy symbols like the care bears?
