High Elf Spearman vignette, advice needed

Hi everyone,

I\'ve started work on a small piece centred round a High Elf spearman, WIP pictures are below

Now I can think of three ways to proceed from here.

1: Have a second spearman parrying the thrust with his shield and preparing a counterattack with his own spear

2: Have a swordmaster performing a prise-de-fer.

3: Make the spearman a stand-alone piece.

A second opinion on the way to go would be very helpful, as well as any other ideas that I have not come up with.

Any comments on the conversion as it stands would be appreciated too.

mho, is that ine the pose he exudes confidence in his strike being successful, thus putting all effort into the strike itself.
So I would base him high like on a cliff/hill/plateau and have him striking a flying creature/dark elf mounted on flying creature.
Just my suggestion.
Nice work.

I agree there kind of a take on all comers.. maye a group of bodies around him.. reminds me of one of the spartans on a rampage in 300

Thanks for the replies and ideas.

Here\'s the new plan: Have the spearman shown flanked by another pair of spearmen who are also striking suitably heroic poses. Have them standing on a cliff edge.

The piece could be called \"The Defenders of Ulthuan\"

Love the first: very dynamic with alot of motion.

The second one\'s shoulder (the spear hand side) is riding a little low int he socket and actually appears dislocated.

I am loving the idea and so far the execution. I am looking forward to the finished product.

I see what you mean about the shoulder, thanks for pointing it out. Should be simple enough to fix.

I was indeed planning on having waves crashing against the cliffs.

Sadly, it may be a while before I finish it since I\'m only able to work on my projects when not at university and I head back to the UK at the end of the week. I should hopefully have the third spearman done by then and maybe some of the painting though.

Any ideas about the third spearman? Right now I\'m thinking of having his shield up and spear levelled, ready to recieve a charge. Any other thoughts?

Maybe a more stoic pose?
You have dynamic, and relaxed, what about stoic?
Maybe his spear leaning on his shoulder and his shield held close with a straight face?
Just a thought...:D
