Should you look at the works of artists like Alan Lee you\'ll see that there is such a wealth of materials he\'s had to work with, which orginiatied from the books.
I got the notion that LoTR was low from the magic, not so much the rest of the world. I remember a DVD feature where someone was describing how the magic in LoTR wasn\'t like Harry Potter, it was more ..subdued?? I probably was overlooking a lot of those elements (however I do own an Alan Lee calendar, Alan Lee-illustrated LoTR special ed. and a book on interpeting his art for the movies, among other things).
