Well the original picture and the \"photoshopped\" one are, according to the poster, done by him or herself.
Personally I don\'t see the need to mess about with a picture that much, I\'d rather get the painting right on the figure.
Having said that I would definately have tidied up the edge selection before adding the background, makes the whole thing look \"scrappy\" and unprofessional.
