I don\'t know if I\'ll get yelled at for posting this...but I have to tell someone!!!

I just got accepted to the University of South Florida and I\'ll be going there this spring semester!!! I\'m really excited because I also got invited to their Honors Program!

I\'m already in college but this Spring will be the \'move away from home\' part of it. And while I\'m excited, I\'m absolutely petrified!

:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

But I would like to dedicate this thread to \'relive\' your good ole\' college days, lets hear about the fun times that you still laugh about!

and maybe a few good bits of advice.

Congratulations! Moving away from home the first time is scary, but in the long run, it\'s worth it. The independence is  as long as you don\'t :drunk: too much! But you\'re like :innocent: not , so I\'m :D for you!

Well done for getting into uni:D

I took the view when I left home, that the doors always open for return visits if needed. It gave me a lot of comfort knowing this, whilst I was busy with the large amount of girlies that seemed to find me interesting, (then I may add) I married one of them as well 10 years later, so get out there and have a blast, never give the boys it all on a first date, (although my wife did):D make them wait, and they will respect you more. Only do what your head says your comfortable with, and know the support of parents is never lost.

I wish I was starting out again, bon voyage!!!!

I spent a total of 6 years at university and I guess I can remember about 6 months worth:drunk:

Hmmm....my college years?

Lets see...I would get up at 6a, go to class until about 130p...then go to work from 3-11p..then do homework until late.

Then repeat.

I kinda crashed and burned after 1.5 years of that....I just kept working at the job I had. Now, here I am 19 years later, still thinking I should go back and finish up.

Congrats Becca! Nice one!

Breaking away from home can be fun!!

My Uni days were mixed.........There were a lot of field trips so much time partying and damaging rooms and watching poor folks drinking the wrong things..........blurry times..........

And my first serious girlfriend who eventually turned into my stalker...........but enough of that!!!!

Congrats!

I work for a college, and can offer the following advice based on 20 years of being in education (either at the receiving or supporting ends.)

1. It\'s only four years (assuming you are only going for a bachelor degree.) Having a \"life\" can lead to it being ten years, so keep your priorities straight. Delay gratification.

2. Keep in contact with the univesity. Talk to instuctors. Talk to your advisor early and often. Good relationships with instructors leads to good grades (seriously.) Good advising keeps graduation on track.

3. Focused and attentive in class is worth 10x the time with your nose in the textbook. The corollary to that is never, ever, ever skip class.

Have fun!

So the lesson is: Stay in school or you end up like Supervike.

Congratulations!

Still enjoying my Uni days myself, it\'s a blast. The break from all the old, a fresh start, being independant and meeting so many new folks. Brilliant. Find myself walking around in a daze sighing with utter contentment at times. :D

Don\'t listen to all the nay sayers about needing to study all hours either. Go to classes and tutorials and you\'ll be fine, plenty of time to enjoy yourself. Just don\'t take it all so seriously. Also the best time to try a bunch of new things, try different folks on for size. Had my eyes opened to a host of things I never knew I could enjoy and people I never would have expected to get along with!

Most of all, just have some craic, \'tis what uni is for in my most humble opinion. ;)

Congrats Becca! That is totally awesome for you! Study hard, play hard, and enjoy the time while you\'re there. I know there are certainly times I wish I was back in school and could actually apply myself more in classes, but I did get a lot done.

Most of my time was spent either working on a show (I think I averaged around 4-6 per year), hanging out with friends, and playing cribbage in the School of Drama lounge. Made some wonderful friends, some of whom I\'m still hang out with, and it also put me on the track to be in the theater company that I\'m in right now.

So have fun, and take it seriously but not too seriously. Like most of life. ^_^

Congrats!!!
Life in the bigger legue is great!
Don\'t worry about the whole \"leaving the nest\" thing cuz your folks will always take care of you and I\'m sure the doors are always wide open. Everyone finds that they need to get bailled out at some point :D
Well...I sure did anyway!
It was like one big party with lectures in-between. Your most likely a lot smarter than me in term of control:D
One of my fondest memories was getting seriously mashed and bumbling about in a trolly (shopping cart) at some insane time in the morning, finding out later that someone had nicked some potted plants from outside the uni.
Turns out it was me! lol
Sure enough I looked out the window that evening and the post box outside was adornes with various flora and an upturned Trolly!
I tell you this because i\'m so responsible and wouldn\'t want you to fall into a simillar scenario...because thats just wrong, and stuff.

Incidently, however, it paid off cuz I now work for the british goverment! Go figure eh?! lol
