Are there any magazines that cover historical minis and have articles on painting etc?

Print or web-based. ...and preferably in English.

Links?

One of the best I have found is Figure International and retails at around £5.15 and is a quarterly available from Historex here in the UK.

Several CMON Memebers have had articles in the magazine over the last year or two that I have been subscribed to it and besides a show review and some nice eye candy they will also give quite detailed information on colours used by an artist to paint a particular figure.

Edit: You could also try reading through the tutorials of the
Military Modelling Site
Some useful articles and not just on tanks.

Wargames Illustrated is exactly that, and mostly a show of badely painted figures that are curently in vogue amonst teh club scene. I think he was more after some of the serious stuff unless I totally misread is post :D

Yeah..I am looking for a more serious painting inclination from the magazines. I am particularly interested in the methodology behind the flesh painting techniques that many historical modelers use. Their work is so often stunning in that regard. I\'ll check out the suggestions that have been offered thus far, but keep \'em coming.

Can the UK mag be subscribed to in the US?

For what you are saying then I think the Figure International Magazine will be your best bet. I am not sure if there is a better magazine produced in the states maybe Einon can answer that one for you but Historex do a rest of teh world subscription Here but you are going to be looking at around $70 a year for it although you get a free figure do you realy want to pay that much for a quarterly magazine???

oof...$70 seems a bit steep for a quarterly. If it were monthly I\'d jump on it, but I don\'t want to have to starve my kid to pay for the magazine that I\'ll only get 4 times per year.:~(

As in most cases Google can be your friend, I just did a quick search and came up with THIS
Looks like Mitchegan Toy Soldier has a good stock of the back issues.

The most recent one is #24 and has an excelllent article by Julio Cabos which besides painting a horse also does the flesh and uniforms of his entry to Euro-Militaire the other year titled \"Hostile Fire\".

EDIT: I think their postage is a bit on the steep side but if you only want a one off to see what teh magazine is like it might be worth it.
