I was thinking about buying some planes miniatures as a gift for an aviation fanatic - are there miniature lines for warplanes, especially WWI or WWII?

I would go for airfix matey, like Mr Swordwind said. Theres an awesome history of the spitfire kit! Some 5 models for about 20 quid!
I love it and I\'m not even a plane buff...But I cant say Im not interested ;)

Thanks for tips, everyone. He already has some scale models, but he had never heard of smaller scale minis, so I thought they might be a nice surprise.

I\'m sure I saw some small small scale planes somewhere (thry\'re made by either Airfix or revell). Theyre clip together jobs but theyre pretty small. If thats the job you\'re looking for I suggest those! :)

Dragon Models out of Hong Kong has a line of 1/144th aircraft.

You can find them at a discount on the Squadron/Signal Website, if you have time to order them.
