Yep, or \" Der Untergang \" in german. Still haven´t seen it, but on of my mates at college has seen it several times and agrees that it´s probably one of the best german movies of the last years.

It\'s up there with Das Boot (the boat) and Stalingrad (erm, Stalingrad...) as great German war movies.

Why is it I only see German war movies? I\'m sure theres a vibrant and interesting German cinema easily on a par with the UK or France.

They do do good war films though, but then the only Russian films I\'ve seen are war movies...

well not really - don´t get me wrong, there some good movies and some classics that are worth your time , such as :

Love in thoughts (2002 )

Metropolis (1927)

M ( 1931 ) (haven´t actually seen this one , but seen nothing but good reviews)

Space Patrol Orion
(1962) - actually a tv show , but there´s also a movie version. The Music is great , the tricks are incredible cheap but fun to watch
. It´s a great show for a retro movie night . Plus the General in Charge of the spacce fleet is a hot Babe :D . Oh and an english version exists , hjust not sure how easy it is to obain

Goodbye Lenin - very funny at times , yet moving. gives you a little insight what live can be like, if the nation/system your living in ceases to exist.

the lives of others. Won the Oskar for best foreign´movie. ´nuff said

but that´s it, they might be a few more i forgot to list here, but most german movies are remakes , rip offs of hollywood movies or really bad comedies. Trust me , the last german movie i rented on dvd, was so bad , that i stopped watching after half of it. And no, it wasn´t even an Uwe Boll Movie

Haven\'t seen many German movies but one I really like is Funny Games by Michael Haneke. Ok, it\'s almost painful to watch but a very effective movie. Not a war movie but a movie about violence.

Btw, that\'s the funniest version of that Hitler scene I\'ve seen so far. :)

Having read Farins post I\'ve seen more German movies than I thought!

Lola runs, Other peoples lives, Goodbye Lenin and of course Metropolise.

My bad memory...

Michael Haneke is Austrian (born in Germany, but moved to Austria as a small child). ;)

Werner Herzog has made a lot of really good films, Nosferatu, Aguirre, Fitzcaraldo, etc.

Another great German film maker is Wim Wenders. The American Friend, Wings Of Desire, etc.

I wasn\'t a fan of Wings of Desire, German or American version. But I was a big fan of Paris Texas (I know it\'s a US production).

There you go another German film, I\'ve seen Nosferatu too...

My Memory is rubbish.

How far off topic can we go...

Sorry, the language must have fooled me. Those Austrians really should invent an own language for themselves if they want any gredit for their work. ;)
