now that i have a decent army painted up (774 points) ive been thinking about gettign a case sometime... problem is simply this... i have NO idea what to get.... here enlies my problem.... i tried using my friends GW case that his army is sposed to be in (but im keeping till he pays me for painting his army wich i did about 2 years ago now!) and well... the \"cells\" in the GW case are just too small! a gaunt is longer then the cell and the slasher gaunts are taller and because of the sything talons a bit wider too... not to mention warriors with varios poses hive tyrant and carnifex models! (yes ravener too but hey... those are same size as the warriors)... eny ideas on a case that would have nicely sized cells to allow for gaunts and warriors to fit comforty without me having to worry if my little bugs wont get squashed? prefably a hardshelled case thats not gonna hurt the wallet too much when i can afford it... also something rather large as i plan on expanding the horde! many thanks!

Well all i know is the Army transport and the ones that are on eBay which some are larger than Army but super harsh on the wallet. I do wish you the best on that...hopefully someone will know more about this. Post your solution as I am having the same problem.

You could just use the wavy foam or buy some foam blocks (or get them from people) and cut out the cells for each mini. You could also use magnets on the bases and use steel trays to transport your minis in.

I got the Army Transport and I\'m not a huge fan. The thing that annoys me is what a pain it is to get the trays out. Only the top opens.

Anyway, I\'d suggest the Reaper case, you can zip down the side too. Otherwise quite similar to the Army Transport. The downside to the Reaper is that the foam trays dont come in quite so many sizes but more sizes are comming out in the near future I\'ve been told.

It\'s not solid shell but your figs will be quite secure in there. The large GW case is pretty nice IMO too. Once you switch out the foam it comes with anyway. But it\'s alot worse on the pocket book than anything else by a long shot. Not that you\'d need the large for a smaller Nid army of course. But the small is pretty pricey itself.

A briefcase and a few layers of eggshell foam work quite well once you can secure the trays to the top of the case via a cloth or strapping you\'d have to attach yourself. I think most cases come with straps on the top portion but they wont fit around a bunch of foam. Or if you use some reaper or army transport foam trays you woulnt need to. You\'d have to test it out, it might open over the foam no problem so you wouldnt need to pack the top side upside down before closing it up, hence wouldnt need to secure the top at all. Just need to make sure to open it upright in that case.

Also note that none of the cases are the same size so you cant really switch the foam trays around.

For bigger figures like Mr. HT, lictors and warriors, how about a cardboard box that has been filled with balls of expanded polystyrene? Basically, the idea is to put the minis in the box, then pour the polystyrene balls in.

It doesn\'t look good, it ain\'t elegant, but it\'s damn cheap, simple to use, handles any size mini and makes sure the minis don\'t move.

Ideally, Wolfie, you should have a living and semi-sentient entity that will accept each individual mini directly from your hand and, after having ingested said mini, store it in one of a number of pouches within its body.

Your hive queen should be able to whip something like that up for you straight-away.

Remember to tell her to give it legs, too, why carry it when it could walk under its own power?
