Horse Trading! List of Resins! FS/FT

A lot of people are curious about these equine resin models as they aren't kits and there's no assembly required. They are a white resin that is VERY different than minis/figures you know and love.

There is no sprue to deal with, only very small seam lines, no flash, and the prep work on these are minimal. I have a feeling you will be pleasantly surprised. Of course, I will provide detailed photos and descriptions. And if there's something that's a little more complicated, I'll be sure to point that out.

These horses are white resin (I've heard it called polystone but I've also heard that polystone is hard - that is NOT the case with these). This resin is soft and very workable, I prep using my carbide scraper. If you're not careful and use and Xacto you might gouge the resin. All of them have wire reinforced legs and usually wire in the tails too.

I would very much like to trade if possible and I've put values on them which equals what I paid, not current market value which has increased because the runs are small. So they are for sale too if anyone is interested in purchasing.

These resins have been sitting in my entertainment center waiting for me to find inspiration to paint them...well for many it's been three years - I probably ain't gonna find it. I thought a trade might be in order.

I really want to trade a "horse for a "horse". I love the medieval age and have several Andrea and Pegaso models. But only one of them, my current WIP, the Roaming Knight has a horse. There are a few others I've seen that I'd love to own, especially if they are sculpted by Andrea Julia.

Knight of the Holy Sepulchre is at the top of my list. And yes, if necessary I will trade more than one model if there is a value imbalance.

But I know there are a lot of cool models I haven't seen so here's the general guideline.

It needs to be 54mm or larger! If it's smaller, I might not be able to paint it with my hand tremors.

I'd really like it to have a horse in there somewhere. ;)

I love the medieval age, but ancient history works too. I'm not too keen on Colonial or Napoleonic Ages because I'm not as familiar with the history as I am medieval but it would depend on the sculpt. Fantasy, Light or Dark, Chaos or Elven would also be fine.

I love Andrea and Pegaso style sculpts. I loved what I saw of Romeo but if you have another brand, I'm more than happy to check it out - I know there's a ton of stuff out there I haven't seen.

Basically, if you're not sure if it's something I'd want - send me a PM and I'll let ya know. I'd rather hear from you and say "thank you but no," than miss out on something cool.

Okay that's the basics - here's the list:

First up is a 1:32 scale (54mm) Bitty Bosco.

20110604_9.jpg

Original sculpt was Traditional size (1:9) scale El Embosco a Keiger Mustang Stallion. The sculpt proved extremely popular and it sold out quickly. A year or two later, the sculptor, Morgen Kilbourne resculpted (he's not a scan) a mini version changing his head turn and basically making him a mirror image of the original. There are many sculptors who do not attempt a mini version of a previous sculpt, concerned they will not be able to capture exactly what the public loved about it in the first place. They opt for computer generated "shrinkies" where the original is scanned and a computer reduces the sculpt the the appropriate scale then sends instructions to a machine to create a mold. Morgen opted for the more difficult route and resculpted Bosco by hand. The accuracy is brilliant and this stallion is loaded with attitude.

This is what he looks like painted with dry pigments, acrylics and other mixed media. I painted him this one as a portrait model of my real horse Isaac. "The Grump" as I call him, gets that exact same look on his face when he cops an attitude. (Painted model is not for sale.)

20110604_17.jpg

The first model I purchased at the very beginning of the run. This unpainted one came later, almost at the end. Although he is not by any means a "second" (meaning lots of air bubbles/pinholes/seam issues and other problems) he will require a little more work than normal. He is very tippy and does not want to stand. His feet will need to be sanded and there is a possibility of having to take a heat gun to his left hind leg for less than a second (I'm not kidding, any that .5 seconds and you'll have a puddle of resin instead of a horse) to straighten it just a touch.

20110604_26.jpg

He shipped to me from the sculptor who received him from the caster. You can see where the sculptor added some Apoxie Sculpt to fix a couple of air bubbles in his hooves and tail.

20110604_25.jpg

She also worked on his front feet. The only thing I've done with him thus far is sand the bottom of his feet and tail (it helps brace him when he stands) so he was not quite so tippy. He will definitely need more work. If you are concerned about doing this, I will be happy to fix him for you and get his feet level free of charge. Just let me know and I'll make sure he stands securely (being tippy and falling on its side is the leading cause of busted ears on these things).

Bitty Bosco = $90.00 + s&h

Continued next post...which will follow shortly.

I keep trying to post this stuff and I keep getting interrupted. :messed:

Okay second up:

One of my favorites, I may change my mind about selling this little guy.

1:32 scale (54mm) Mini-Fabrizio Stallion. I believe this little guy was sculpted for a Dartmoore type pony but give him spots and he works for a lot of different things.

20110604_28.jpg

He is extremely clean - so you might have a couple seams and that's about it.

20110604_31.jpg

He's definitely got some hair going on.

But as I was taking pics of him to post, I discovered something completely by accident and it's making me rethink my idea of selling him.

He has a cute little face under all that hair, I took pictures to show off that fact. But as I cropped the pics on the computer I realized with just a slight angle change of the camera, he conveys different emotions with his expression.

Remember, I haven't painted these guys so these photos are only cropped, resized and I adjusted the highlights and white balance. It's tough taking pics of an all white resin. But when I discovered this, I had to have fun with it...I just couldn't resist. lol!

$90 + s&h

But wait! There's more!

Mini Majestuoso aka Mini Maj. 1:32 scale (54mm) Andalusian Stallion. He also works wonderfully as a Lusitano (same country different region - Luistanos can be a variety of colors Black, bay, bucksin, etc. Andalusians are primarily gray and occasionally have a black which does not gray out. And can even pull off an Azteca. (Andalusian lines are crossbred with Quarter Horse lines several times the offspring comes as close as we can to the original Spanish horses that went feral when they traveled to the Americas.

20110604_miniresins-39.jpg

Stacey Tumlinson sculpted this guy and his larger counterpart (and is also revising the traditional sized Majestuoso into Matador). I believe she casts her own resins as well. You can see in this photo he's got some Apoxie Sculpt on his ear. This is how I received him from Stacey. Every once in awhile the ears get air bubbles in them and deform them enough they need to be redone. But aside from the color which will be covered when he's painted, the ear repair is un-noticeable.

Like

This is a very elegant and dynamic model. The mold always does well no matter the color.

20110604_miniresins-36.jpg

He's packed with lot of detail and can be placed very naturally in various types of dioramas.

20110604_miniresins-42.jpg

Like I said he's packed with detail. I also put him with my Roaming Knight horse, at least the heads, just for a size comparison.

20110604_miniresins-63.jpg

They are very close to the same size, Old Blue is just slightly larger which is acceptable. The Andalusian was called the Iberian in the medieval age and was the Spanish war horse. Then English and French had a tendency to use a bit stocker mount (not a draft horse by any means). The two match pretty evenly in scale.

Mini Maj is $85 s&h.

Okay, I'm going to list three more in one last post and keep it short and sweet then I'm done.

Okay last post and three horses - I'm going to keep it brief so if you have questions or want more pictures, drop me a PM.

Spinnaker 1:32 scale "anything horse", usually works well as a mustang or any grade stock type.

$75.00 +s&h

Cheveyo - 1:32 scale playful Mustang.

$75.00 +s&h

This little guy is a bit different. He's what we call Little Bit scale and is smaller than the 1:32 but I'm not positive what the ratio is. He comes all the way from England. He's a completely different type of resin that is naturally yellowish and it feels a bit denser and harder than the white. Donna Chaney with Animal Artistry in the UK made a special trip to Texas and set up a vending both at a model horse I attended in 2010. I was lucky enough to pick up this guy and he was the last one of his run and has long been sold out. Donna is also very well known for her china horses.

20110604_58.jpg

He would represent a Belgian, Percheron, or Suffolk Punch type draft very well, something that does not have a lot of feather on it's legs.

20110604_54.jpg

I tried to put this guy next to Old Blue to give a size comparison but he is quite a bit smaller.

20110604_miniresins-66.jpg

Unfortunately, Animal Artistry is known for their higher prices so paid a bit more for him. $125.00

But all prices are a just a general guide for trades and OBO for sale. So feel free to make me an offer or drop me PM if you have questions or would like to see more pics. Thank you for looking!

Trade? I don't have anything larger than my wolfen, and I got those from YOU.

And yes, I am probably going to end up with a pile of these things. I just need to sculpt riders for them all.

lol! Well, it's good motivation for sculpting! You can probably do some converting on figures too so you don't have to sculpt the entire thing. Remember how my Roaming Knight is really close to fitting my Crusher resin. ;)
