Ive read the first two am half way through the third. Got to say they are good, i thought they would be. However also thought they might be a bit over the top which in fairness they are in some places but on the whloe they are packed with stuff to make dioramas out of etc etc. Anybody else read them and what do you think????

Loved them all. The best job they have done in making you sympathize with why the traitors succumbed to chaos.
i dont know. i just didnt like the series all that much. i found the writing to be quite disjointed and did not like the somewhat chaotic effect of jumping back and forth to different things in the first book. being new to the 40 k universe at the time of reading the first book i was also incredibly confused and i beleive when you read the first book in the series you might be able to symphathize with the chaos space marines more, if you actually understood more of the background, yet the stories were written as if i am already supposed to know all the back story. i guess that was my biggest problem.

I\'ve read the first one, and rather enjoyed it, but I always view a series with multiple authors with a little trepidation. The quality of the writing can vary so much that it takes away some of the fun.
I have bought the second one, but haven\'t gotten into it yet.

Thats what i thought when i saw that it was different writers but the thing is that its different stages of time, the different authors tackle the different things going on in their own way and means that say D Abnett is good at showing the war and battle B Counter taps into the evil side more etc etc. If that makes any sense at all.

I think also it keeps each authors interest high intheir own tasks..one author doing the whole story would get a bit repetitive for the author nd the reader and would end up leading further and further away from the thread as the author burnt out..
It\'s interesting getting the different writers accounts and comparing them the different character it adds to the books matches well with the different characters telling the stories...

i have thoroughly enjoyed them so far. i just hope they don\'t wear too thin as more and more come out. so far i have enjoyed dan abnett and graham mcneill\'s stuff the most so i cant wait for fulgrim to come out
I think the writers have done a great job keeping the flow and cant really say I noticed any difference from one book to another, superb. As long as they dont let Barrington J. Bailey have a go, anybody read that load of drivel \'Eye of Terror\' Christ Almighty, he can stuff that one up his own eye of terror. What I\'m really looking forward to is the story of the Dark Angels, if you read Angels of Darkness you might know what I\'m getting at, I wont spoil it for those that havent though. Those crazy space marines, I just cant get enough, rock on I say.
Only got as far as Horus Rising so but but I\'m not too sure. I didnt like the grand enterance of Horus being like that of a pro wrestler. Not to mention it turns in to a Starship Troopers clone half way though.
Though I thought the attack on \"Terra\" was brilliantly well done. I may pick up False Gods sometime soon.

I wouldn\'t worry about Barrington J Bailey. He hasn\'t written another Black Library book since Eye of Terror, about nine years ago.
Horus Heresy, great series, can\'t wait etc, etc. Agree about needing to know a bit about the plot before you read the book. A bit like opera then.
