How clean is you keyboard?

I\'m sitting here waiting for paint to dry and having a cup of tea (black no sugar. The English folks here will cringe. They did the whole time I was in England) when I noticed my keyboard is a bit \"furry\". With cats and living in an area where dust is something you breath it doesn\'t surprize me.

I hunted around for my can of air only to realize that I\'ve used it AND the back up can blowing crap off my minis while I paint so I pull out some old large brushes and get to work. Then I realize that my tendancy to eat while surfing the net has caused ...erm...a bit of .... erm ... crust to form on the sides of the keys. It\'s also spattered with fine drops of paint from using a toothbrush to add texture to \"rocks\". There are a couple of streaks of paint-on white primer on the wrist rest where I prime while talking to Roger on the webcam.

The poor thing looks so bad. I feel horrible but then I thought, \"I bet everyone out there has a keyboard that\'s a hairy, crusty, paint spattered mess.\" Make me feel better about myself and tell me it true. Please? :(

Pretty clean. I used compressed air on it about every other day, just to make sure.

I also take my keyboards apart about once a month to really get in there and clean it out.

I tend to kill about 2 keyboards a year. orange juice seems to be the biggest culprit.. but tight now its got some crumbs and other bits rattling about.. every so often I tip it over the garbage bin and give it a good shake.

A good vacuum now and them helps clean out the bits too.

As of right now its fairly clean..

if it doesn\'t contain half a pint of dna then it isn\'t being used enough.

and as for canned air, just blow on the key board and then use a damp cloth, it\'s far, far cheaper.

Nope sorry mines quite clean. (Might have to do with the fact that I don\'t paint near my computer. Why do you do that?)

Mine\'s horrible. I swear, I have to have my laptop checked almost every time I take it on a plane, I figure it\'s because it\'s probably full of metal dust! I\'ve also got primer splashes, from an unfortunate incident with some diluted brush-on primer and a syringe, and loads of spatters of regular paint too. And glue. And probably enough static grass for a whole base! I\'m actually pretty careful with food and drink, but there have been a few near-misses.

Some of us do it because we have nowhere else.

Mine\'s not too bad, but the keyboard is getting pretty nasty looking due to heavy use. It\'s one of those Logitech G15 gaming keyboards with the backlit keys... and the wasd region of the keyboard is pretty worn down. Without the black paint, you just have glowing blue keys with no letters visible on them! People who look at the keys when they type don\'t like using my computer :p

Microsoft are working on this all too common problem even as we speak...

the next version of windows will have a special feature:

press Alt+Shift+F13, this releases a special vapour onto all surfaces of your computer, all you need do is give it a quick wipe and your brand new again :)

*********************

Seriously though, my last keyboard was two-tone! White key surfaces but black as night inbetween! Even household bugs woulnt dare venture down there!

I hit my keyboard with an air can at least once per week.

-- sometimes I even blow air through it.

Seriously though, I used to let it get really bad but now I\'m OCD about it. Air can once/week; q-tip swab around the keys once/month.

Eww. Oh, you mean skin cells.

Mine is pretty gross due to eating brekkie at the computer every morning, but it\'s also funny that the WASD keys are worn blank... ah I miss gaming :)
