How do i make it look dark!

hello again, I have recently started a diorama and i want to make it look like it is set at night, but have no idea how to go about doing it.Below is a pictures of it in progress(sorry for the crappy pic)

I intend to do the building in a grayish colour. I am going to do the solders (death korps) in an arctic scheme . The thing at the front is going to be a barrel which I intend to do an osl flame coming out of

does anyone know how i can make snow look dark/grayish like thisas i only know how to make white fluffy snow

This painting is set at dusk.

At night the colours would be washed out a bit more.

One thing I have done is to make the shapes of the snow piles out of Magic Sculpt, paint and shade them as I would normally then put a light coating of baking soda over that and the shading shows thru. You could do the snow gray to begin with then flock over that.
