Very carefully.

On a more serious note... Bushido used to hang out a lot at bolterandchainsword.com, and he may have even been a PC&A moderator. Why don\'t you try searching their board, maybe even PM him.

This is the type of question that can not be answered in a more productive way, really, than Matty did. There\'s no special trick that you can learn just like that, that will enable you to paint like that. You must practice and practice and practice! There\'s no other way!

Unfortunatley there is no secret recepie or trick to painting like this and the only way you are gonna achieve it is practice.

It looks like he has done very careful blends on the darker areas, and extreme highlighting on the very edges,(this is where you pick out the very edges in a much brighter colour )with an almost white highlight on the corners and where light would catch the edges.

I believe there is a tutorial of a similar thing in Brokenblades website for an Ultramarine techmarine (so obviously you would need to substitute the purple for blue...)

But it will take practice, if it was easy to do rightly then everyone would be at it, and this site would just be called \'cool mini\'.

productive enough for ya? It would also help if you posted some pictures of your minis so we could see where you are at and tell you what areas to work on.

Frankly, looking at this particular mini I wouldn\'t worry much how to paint highlights like this. I would be more interested how to make banners like this, but this, I am afraid, requires some talent and training.

C\'mon young mister... People are actually trying to help you here, despite the fact that you ask questions that can\'t be properly answered! If this is the attitude you give those that go out of their way to give you useful tips then I seriously doubt you will be given much more help in the future!

lol, right you are, dad ritual:D
Spacemunkies tutorial on Photoshop is excellent and easy to follow.Try it. You\'ll find it in the Photogrphy-section of this forum. As i\'m not english/american i can\'t give you much advice on how to import pics into CMON, but heed the advice given, post you WIP\'s. It helps, folks help.

p.s. i press <file>, <open>, dubbleklick the image et voila, photo in Photoshop.

You don\'t even need to put it into photoshop, just upload it to photobucket.
And if you can export (not just save, or click and drag) from fuji editor and set a size (about 400pixels wide seems alright for this forum) and save it as a jpeg. (so you get a smaller filesize for the web)

even i don\'t start posts like this... practice is the one key. learning new techniques helps, but it is mainly practice. Also, how are we meant to know, ask bushido himself if you want:drunk:

Aside from a few select basic skills, like brush control, and handling thinned paint, how you paint a mini should be a question of your own personal flavour.

I\'m a person that beleives that this is a form of art, so your art should be your own, and not emulate someone elses totally. You can take inspiration from other works, but you shouldn\'t try to copy their style and techniques to any large degree.

Practice will really make you come into your own as a painter. Just remember you won\'t be happy for the first while until you develope your methods.

There is my two cents worth anyway.

Cheers!

You guys are all right and i know but it gets on my neves with the same a nswers all the time. I like to paint in a style with dark colours and weathered metallics. I like the inquisition because the fit that description well. Jut thought Iwould let you know thats how i paint for any further pointers you may give me.

Thanks,Sam:cool:

As i said on one of your threads two days ago, its great that we know how you paint it, but we don\'t know how WELL you paint it.

And if you keep asking the same questions, sooner or later you are going to get the same answers.

I know I\'m really unknown around here, but I have a suggestion that mabey we terminate this thread because it seems that it\'s tone seems to be a little tense. Mabey if we can start another one with a topic that might be easier to work with but in the same context as this thread things will work out better.
