How do you make a cheap gold engraved plaque?

I\'ve seen quite a few minis with golden plaques engraved in black - some are obviously the real mccoy, but others look more like a fake
Is there a type of paper that one can print on to that effect, how do you do it, guys?

I haven\'t done it personally, but I\'ve heard of people ink jet printing on transparency film then painting the thing gold. If you print mirror image you can have both the paint and the words on the protected side once you glue it down.

Go to a trophy or awards type shop..typically they cost less than $10.00 for a small plate with engraving.

these are reasonably priced, Name it and only heard good things about them, ie quality, customer service, etc
unless you specifically want to DIY them

Very good link Mick and the prices are very reasonable and the best part is they are being done by someone who knows what they are for.. It took me a while to get my trophy shop to understand exactly what I was looking for. I might see if this place ships international.

I\'m pretty sure a GOLD plaque would be more expensive, you\'re probably looking at brass

I got one from a key cutting shop, only cost £4 very very cheap, and you could choose from different fonts and the colour of the plaque
