It all depends on volume so depends how big you want the model, they do free quotes before you commit to anything which is handy

I think it would also depend very much on the IP of that property.

I don't know anything about that modelling company you are talking about, but do you think they'd want a copyright issue?

NAh face is recognisably Summer Glau, might have issues because of that and her role in Terminator chronicles.

But we get that all the time. Like the generic "Roman officer" who is a dead ringer for Russell Crowe, the Barbarian who has an uncanny resemblance to Arnold, the generic Pirate who looks so much like Johnny Depp that you expect him to say "Savvy?" at any moment. If these companies had license then they'd be using actual names because that's instant brand recognition.

isn't it ok if it's a ltd run?

hmmmm...I don't think so...VARA only applies to 200 pieces and under and even then that's stretching it. I really don't know but I also doubt it from what I understand about intellectual copyright. If someone can get fined millions of dollars for making an illegal copy of a song, I wonder how much they can get sued for make an illegal copy of a person. ;)

Yes, and Andrea are guilty of copyright infringement every single time. Ditto with Pegaso and Young Miniatures when they do the same thing.

Nope. Produced for yourself is perfectly okay, but as soon as you sell (directly or indirectly) then technically you're in violation.

Garage kits have been 'borrowing' from copyrighted IPs for years.

The market is just so incredibly small in the grand scheme of things that hardly anyone (outside the geek circles) notices.

While I'm opposed to recasting, I guess I'm guilty of supporting copyright infringement. I like the 'not-whomever' characters, and enjoy painting them very much.
