Yeh,I hated the rider, loved the horse, and I think that shows in my finished job.
The feet were resculpted first and the eyes were a pig.
Good luck everyone.:D

And have you noticed that the voting for the ones already up is very low.

Yeah  I did. I\'d put it somewhere between \"picky\" and \"cruel\" :( I suppose you could say \"harsh\" if you wanted to be kind.

Just finished!

Hello all! I just finished photographing my entry and have her posted. She is at:

http://www.coolminiornot.com/57762

There are a lot of nice entries out there already, and I\'ll bet there will be quite a few at the last minute. I\'m surprised I got mine done as soon as I did!

I think the voting looks pretty bang on.Thing is if you havnt painted the mini you wont know how bloody hard it is.That will lower scores Im sure.
Mike, I said to you I would be pleased with over 7 with mine and Im usually quite honest with myself. Its at 7.5 so Im pleased on a personal level.
Im dissappointed that the mini this time around wasnt the one from last time.I would have liked to enter that at my current painting level.
Can we expect a late showing from a lot of painters or do you think like me that a lot of top artists will stay away in case they show themselves up with the mini in question.:D

Second listing question

I have my contest entry listed twice: once showing the wooden display base, and one with closer shots without the base in the photos. The one with the display base is scoring a lot lower. Should I just delete the entry showing the wooden display base since no one seems to care for it anyway?

catch my towel

I give up! christina is looking ok but different and I have not got the energy to repaint my horse which to be honest looks like a sick dog.
Maybe next year. I\'ll post her soonish.....:(

nah I\'d say it really is \"too picky\" and \"too cruel\". Honestly I am really surprised at the scores.

This mini is really a hard one when it comes to painting. I am kinda tempted to post up a completely unpainted version with a gw mini in comparison just so ppl can see the difference in size and scale at least.

It might not be the paintjobs...

I myself hate the mini, so perhaps it\'s turning people off? I\'m hoping for something more to my taste next time that will get me to enter.

Lets just say the mini had a few problems. Must we remember the quality of the first CMON minis? Especially Freya ???:|~
Things have been worse before.

At least this one had some redeeming qualities. The little swirls were nice and the saddle bags are a nice touch. I actually liked the face. It seemed rather symmetrical and pretty.

The horse had some serious anatomy issues though.

But that\'s just my 2 cents CAN ( only worth about 1.6cents US:D)
:innocent:

You could look at it that way I guess. Who was it that said a piece of shit is still a piece of shit whatever colour you paint it?! That is perhaps a bit harsh, but the principle\'s sound.

I really found the mini disappointing. The horse is a bit ropey in places, particularly the head which isn\'t great, and it\'s too big to boot. Some of the fine detail seems a bit too fine as well. Part of the saddle blanket edging just disappears into nothing. Don\'t know if that\'s a sculpting, moulding, or casting flaw. Also, how many damn mould lines were there between the back legs? Nigh on impossible to clean up properly (horses are difficult to mould so why not make it a two piece cast?!).

The rider isn\'t much better to be honest. She\'s in a very rigid pose and her cloak flows like a brick wall. I noticed the club foot syndrome as well. Really not sure if thats a casting problem or lazy sculpting. Someone also forgot to add stirrups! Also, the rider doesn\'t fit comfortabley on the horse. Get her arse seated on the saddle and the wrist and hand don\'t line up. Line up the wrist and hand and she levitates above the saddle!

Gael can do a lot better. Maybe the sculpt was a rush job or perhaps it just didn\'t pay well enough?! Certainly a come down after previous CMON models. Sorry Gael.

I thought it made the figure look too much like it was trying to be like something Rackham might put out! It just seemed a bit too obvious considering that Rackham is flavour of the month (year?).

Brushlicker and Freak!
Well I\'m pretty sure they were having problems casting it and it went back to Gael for some bits to be redone, maybe it was cursed from the beginning?

As for the voting, I think its pretty fair so far.

Well, I must say that I am very dissapointed with the score mine is getting at the moment

I know that it is not the best job ever, and I\'m certainly no photographer  ( I had to try three times just to get a reasonable shot of it) But 6.1, seems a bit harsh to me

I know I shouldn\'t let it bother me, buts it grates a little :(

Mine is here

I\'ve got to admit that the photograph isn\'t the best I\'ve done either. But it was a rush job.
Overall the scores are poor considering the quality of the work that has been done on this figure by many of the painters here. I say congratulations to those who tried to paint a very difficult and initially uninspiring figure.
One thing that I noticed was that after posting my picture and after 3 votes it was sitting at 8.0 (at 23:00 UK time) it then dropped to 7.3 by 06:00, with 14 votes!!!
Thanks for that, whoever you were. :p :moon:

I have very little knowledge or experience with real horses. (I\'ve only ever sat on one, can\'t call it riding) So I had to do some research on horses and the colours that different breeds can be found in.
The one that I thought I could manage with the paints I have in my Pallette was a \"Morgan\". I know it\'s not a perfect rendition, any horse breeder looking at it will tell you that the upper parts of the body are not dark enough and the lower chest and groin aren\'t light enough. But hey, It\'s my first horse in nearly 25+ years. And even then they were 54mm Plastic Historex horses painted in Oils. (Badly painted in Oils!)

Despite the faults in the cast, the figure did start to work for me, once I\'d got the initial paint on. So much So, that the colour scheme is one I intend to utilise on a forthcoming Rackham figure.

Yeah, I was at 8.7, then dropped to 8.0 after one vote, then dropped to 7.1 after one more vote. It seems to have leveled out for the time being at 7.6. I thought it was strange to drop so fast, but I guess it is happening to everyone.

Yep, same voting trend happened to me as well. Dropped like a stone after a few votes, but it\'s starting to slide up a notch or two. Let\'s hope that after a few hundred votes it\'ll all even out more fairly for everyone. Until then, I can honestly say that I have scored my fellow competitors honestly and fairly. I even scored some higher than myself!

Good luck everyone! Paint Nice and Vote Fair!
