How many hours do you log in at your website a week?

Just wondering.
I have learned alot but even the slightest idea sparks many hours to go for the tasks completion, like a java navigation bar. ???

Well, I\'ve just been made a partner in James\'s most excellent site (giddy giddy joy joy), so I\'m hoping to spend at least a couple of hours just uploading and updating!

Check it out in my signature!! Comics and minis, what more could you want?

Don\'t Ask

Well, I am pretty sure I am the worst case scenario. The amazing thing is that I have a version of my site in just about every Open Source package out there.

You appear to be headed down a pretty labor intensive path. I think you might want to comtemplate some CMS portal type thing, or a gallery for some of the imagery stuff.

I see a lot of sites everyday, and the more hand coded html intensive it is, the more likely it is to have a post from a year ago that says, \"More updates this weekend!\"

well I only run a forum... and since its been set up, there is no maintainance time needed apart from just logging in to see that ppl are posting and happy.

Short of adding new features, I don\'t spend much time on CMON, it pretty much runs itself (since only borg does modding as I\'m a lazy git) besides participating as a regular user.

Terry is right, it\'s a lot easier using a good CMS to handle your updates. I\'ve noticed that PHPBB has gotten very good as of late as a general news system which automatically spawns forum topics for news items, and has several good gallery plugins which you may want to consider instead of the static pages you\'re using now. You will need a server that supports PHP and a database though (but practically all Linux servers will now).

That said, I must have spent a thousand+ hours getting the site to where it is now.

Oldtimers, reminisce with me...
  1. avatars
  2. integrated forums
  3. shoutbox
  4. articles
  5. anti-sniping (yes it\'s in there and it\'s my secret sauce)
  6. vote tracking(!)
  7. auto-thumbnailing
  8. comment notification via email
  9. favourites list
  10. subscribers
  11. ebay auctions/featured auctions
  12. browsing galleries
  13. top artists and rankings
  14. webmaster tools like ranking images and comments to display on your own page

Can\'t remember the rest, I\'m sure I\'m leaving stuff out.

Well,

I spent a couple of weekends getting my site up to date and the last update was my holiday snaps as a reference source for lizardmen. Not sure when the next update will be as I\'m working on a big mini project that probably wont be done until Games day. :D

Regards

Kat
