How many minis??

What would you say your average monthly spend is on figures, paints etc..

I think I spend about £30-£40 (approx. $50-60 USD). I don\'t think that\'s a heck of a lot but would be interested in seeing how it fits in with the average.

what I do v. what I want

Naturally, I would like to spend so much more than I spend.

I spend, on average, about $20-40 (US) each month. Last month I probably spent 60 to 70. But this month I can\'t buy any. I spent more than I meant to last month and over drew my account. oops.:innocent:

If I had my druthers and unlimited resources I\'d still only spend $50 bucks each month. That\'s a good amount. I want more than that, but I can\'t really paint more than that. As it is I have about 100 unpainted minis. Most of them are plastics that I got from the Warhammer boxed set. Still, it makes me feel wasteful. So $50 is probably the max spending I could really keep up with.

They say college students have problems with \"binge-drinking.\" That\'s when they don\'t drink any alcohol regularly but occasionally go to a party and down a full bottle of tequila or other hard liquor.
I\'m not in college and I barely drink.
However, I\'m a binge buyer.
I rarely spend any money on miniatures/paints, but in the last month I\'ve spent around $125 on paints and minis (~80gbp)

I spend about $40 us a month on minis, and I can\'t even keep up with that.

And my promises to myself to not buy any new ones till the old ones are all painted never hold up lol

I don\'t really buy a \"monthly\" allotment.. but every few months I stock up more than I should :innocent:

Sometimes I spend 120$ to 200$ and buy a full unit at a time

Aggregated over the course of a year I probably spend $200-300 US on figures, paint, brushes, and other materials. That comes out to somewhere between $15 and $35 a month.

The keys: Paint Slowly and Don\'t Play any of the Games

Because I don\'t play I am never in any rush to finish and never see any figures that I absolutely need. So I wait until I am down to a handful, then go out and get around $50 worth of stuff I like for aesthetic reasons.

Of course I am planning on a huge binge after I move out of Nevada. I want a set of Vallejo paints and the complete Street Violence line from Foundry. Combined that will run me close to a grand and will keep me busy for almost a year.

Nearly anywhere. I\'m graduating in 22 days and looking for my first real job. In actuality I may be headed to DC if I get the job with the IRS I applied for.;)

Christ, I\'ve gone absolutely crazy on minis lately . . and to a fault too!

I got paranoid about GW\'s recent decision and have been basically buying (at a discount) a 3000 point Empire army figuring it\'s something I\'m going to get anyways - why pay a higher price down the road? - I have the money - just get it all now.

But I\'ve also been picking up odds and ends - maybe $70 for that Verminite range from Dungeon Dwellers I enquired about last month; also I spent an easy $70 on the sale of Chainmail/WOTC stuff at SV games (including shipping).

Today I bought a Warlord Orc leader, some Reaper dwarves with spears, and the last of the Warrior Priests from GW. There\'s another 20 . . .

It seems like the only time I\'ll stop is when I have everything I want - and that\'s an extremely dangerous place to be. Fortunately I have no dependants, and I refuse (nearly) to pay full price, ESPECIALLY for GW stuff . . . !!

Yeah don\'t be a gamer and a painter

I tend to spend a hundred to a hundred fifty a month on figs. I usualy put a 100 dollar order through TheWarstore and then drop cash here and there at the local gaming store. I have a habit of rolling over minis like i will paint a figure or an army and when i get sick of it i turn it over on freinds or e-bay. So i do spend cash but it a why it is the same money i invested in the beginnign.

Still though if i was not a gmaer i would spend alot less. That is why the top painters here are non gamers

Spending $40 CDN (including duty; 11 minis) on Ground Zero Games figures in December was a big splurge for me. This month I\'ve spent $8 on a couple of Imperial Guards from the bitz bin, and about $13 for a blister of Space Marine snipers. These figures will all be painted shortly after they open a hockey rink in Hell. I guess on average I spend less than $20 CDN per month, including paints.

Impernounceable is right. Paint slowly and don\'t play any of the games. It helps :D Having other hobbies/interests also helps, I mean, $120 could buy me a bunch of Space Marines (that look cool but I won\'t paint until next year)... OR a new pair of rock climbing shoes (which I need now).

I\'m spending about $50 a week on the damned things, but at least I\'m alternating between figures and supplies now... for a while I was just buying Confrontation off on the \'Net like it was going out of style (obviously not the case).

I can\'t resist. Every time Confrontation comes out with a new figure, I froth at the mouth until it\'s in the house. That new... blue thing?... on the new releases page? -----drooool-----

I started painting miniatures last Aug 2002 and since then I\'ve spent around 600 Aussie dollars on miniatures, brushes, paints etc. This investment should last me at least a couple of years as I now have a healthy selection of Rackham, Reaper & GW minis just waiting to be painted. I\'m sure that if I owned a credit card I\'d have a hell of a lot more pewter lying around the house, especially seen as theres so much great stuff out there. Its probably worth noting that I won\'t be satisfied till I\'m the proud owner of Rackams Arkhos the templer commander, and a cool Celtos miniature by I-Kore. Cheers...

I guess I usually spend on average around $60... but some months it\'s 0 and some it $170! Guess it depends on what releases are out and if any sales are going on. I recently freaked out about not getting an online discount because of GW and all so I got a few of the boxed sets that would cost a lot more if it weren\'t for the percentage off.

my spending habits

I spend on average ~$50 a month. It used to be all on GW but since their latest announcement I have found a local store that carries confrontation so I am moving over to them.
Actually, I guess if I averaged out total spending (mine and others) on my habit over the year it would be more since I got the GW Mega-paint set and the full LoTR mini set for christmas.
Are we including game related magazines and books or just the painting part of the habit? If yes to the paper then ~$100 a month.
Wow, I could be buying lots of other things if I could just give this up...

S$100 = US$55 = $35 pound...

I always set aside S$100 for purchasers...This includes paints, brushes, new minis (I have boxes still unopened: yes yes, its disgusting) and basing materials and magazines....what to do, at least I am not a addict! :D

Hey Flashman, did SVgames seend you your stuff yet? I\'ve never gotten mine. I\'ve e-mailed \'em once and haven\'t heard back yet.:(

Oh yeah, about 50$ a month, and I no longer play any of the games, but I\'m poor so it balances out.:D:p

ya, got it all . . I even placed another order last week - I had no intention of building up any Morderngard force but, at dollar a piece?? can\'t be beat!

hmmm . . .dunno what to say about that. When did you order yours? I only ordered Chainmail stuff so maybe if you ordered something OTHER than that they waited to combine??

It seemed like they were doing first come first serve on the WOTC stuff- I got mine JUST inside of 2 weeks from when they said they were gonna ship (\"week of 3/31\" - which I interpreted as being 4/4 - the last day of business that week. I then recieved my stuff on the 18th)
