lol believe it or not, even on my most active days posting (yesterday probably qualifies) I spent much more time painting than posting. And I almost never post when I could be painting, pretty much posting only from work, or when I\'m waiting for something to dry, or when I\'m burnt out painting for the night and just relaxing.

Now if you asked me if I spend more time posting or doing work (while I\'m at work), you may get a different answer

Weinies of the world, unite!

The PaintAid minis were the best thing I\'ve finished so far. I\'m a little scared to really commit to a mini, worrying that it won\'t come up to par. So I\'m spending lots of paint time posting instead..... and getting to know you guys (and gals!)!

But deadlines are coming up...my mini for the Wyrd Games wereshark contest has gotten to the LGS, I HAVE to start on that right away, no time to lose. Also, the Mini Exchange is coming, so suddenly not-painting is not an option.

I always work better under a deadline.

RedDawn, some of my minis now look pretty good...some still look like shit. Us paint-newbies just gotta keep plugging. You\'ve got inhouse help, though, big plus.

Yep - the in-house help is great! But, there were a couple of times that I had to snatch my mini away from him because I wanted finish filing some flash away, etc.

BTW, RedDawn, you mentioned in the Wyrd Games thread (I think) that you were filing and filling and filing and filling...what is it you\'re filling with? I\'m likae a scrape-and-paint sort of guy, filling sounds pretty ....(ful)filling.

@ RedDawn - Seriously...I wouldn\'t worry too much. I think we all tend to take it a little too seriously at times. Just have fun, take a deep breath (not of any thinner, mind you), and...well...have fun! Oh...and wash your hands after filing the minis.

Yeah...after being in my bits box fora few years and going through a couple of moves, some of my old miniatures look pretty hideous. Well...to be fair, they\'d probably look hideous even if they weren\'t all nicked up.

Thank you for showing that Eric, my first looked slightly worse then that. I feel there\'s hope for me. How long have you been painting? I painted my first mini the year you were born, and as of last year I was up to the quality of your first.

I used to paint minis quick for D&D games, but now I\'m trying to paint from a more artistic point of view. It\'s been an uphill battle.

@ RedDawn - Don\'t be afraid, it\'s like sex. It only hurts the first time, and is so much better when you have the help of someone more experienced.

I remember my first time quite clearly and it didn\'t hurt at all

It was my partner\'s first time as well and I am pretty confident that it didn\'t hurt her as she couldn\'t stop laughing for ages.

@ Marcus I first started painting probably 6+ years ago now, but I think I was about like you, just used them for DnD or to get three colors on some warhammer minis in order to be able to play in tournaments. I did something of the same change to focus on mini painting as an artistic outlet about 13 months ago now. Although I still remember it clearly the day I looked at a mini and thought to myself, maybe I\'ll try that blending thing on this one instead of drybrushing it. And it has been a a big struggle to keep pushing myself to improve, and something I still work on. Never satisfied!

I visit the forums here and over at the Forum of Doom probably more than I should.Ive been off work lately and had more time for posting and painting but get burned out quite quick so I tend to swap between the two.
While I paint I come on here for inspiration etc and tend to visit the forums while Im online.

@RedDawn.......dont be scared of that first mini.Just get it over with and move to the next.Its all about practice.

Painting, what\'s painting??????

I\'ve had some personal stuff going on recently that\'s really taken the desire to paint right out of me.

I prepped the wereshark for Nathan\'s Wyrd competition, but I just can\'t bring myself to paint it. I\'ve been sitting here staring at it for almost two hours and just can\'t get myself to pick up a brush.

So, here I sit at my desk, posting instead of painting again... man this sucks.

Painting is a bit of a love hate thing when it is going well you love it but when you can\'t find any inspiration at all you realy hate it. The last couple of minis I have painted just don\'t seem to end up how I want them to look but then that is just the way it goes sometimes.
The new casts from Sacredblade have helped me find some inspiration once more and hopefully this weekend I will make some real progress.
