how much is an Ar-Fienel these days?

Hello everyone :) Long time no post. I've been mega busy with work/family/etc recently. Anyway, I hope you are all well. I'm posting to ask a question. Like the thread title says, does anyone know roughly how much an Studio McVey Ar-Fienel (the original one) is likely to go for? I've seen a few on ebay go for about a hundred quid, but the most recent one is about a year and a half ago. I have one and am looking to sell it, btw (certificate of authenticity, untouched state). Also, how safe is it to sell stuff on these forums (or warseer or whatever) as opposed to eBay? I'm wondering if I should go straight to eBay or tout it round the forums, first. Obvs, the fine folks here at CMoN get first shout either way. I may not have posted much recently, but I do keep an eye on what folks are doing in their respective threads. I've never sold a mini before (wierd, huh) so I'm actually not sure how to go about it, really. Ta in advance for any comments or advice, and heartfelt understanding if you can't be arsed cos there just aint enough time in the day. I know how that feels, that's for sure...

well I consider $100 a very good price for it atm, $150 being still realistic (but too pricey for me). Even tempted by it at this point.
I was hunting that mini, but just today another mini was released, so I won't have any extra for this one. :(

people here: well I have mixed experience. Some very good (items delivered fast and were accurate) and some well not so good (after promise to buy, no answer to inquiries, at least I didn't loose both mini and $).

ebay: imho it could be risky, because there are a few (hopefully very few and looking in some other direction), who would take the mini, then do a paypal moneyback like they never received any. Personally I never experienced that, but heard stories. And if sending correctly it's easy to prove that you did your part.
The bigger plus side is that with the fighting over the mini it could sell much higher, than any price you set here.

so your choice really, but even as it pains me, I'd suggest going the ebay route. But set a reserve price or start high (not at $1). And don't do unsigned / uninsured postage.

I'll second what MAXXxxx said about Ebay. Set a reserve and do it for about 7-10 days, don't start it too low. When you do ship send it by tracking and signed for as I'm sure she will go for a good price as she is so hard to find nowadays. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the input, folks, it's much appreciated. I shall set about learning the ins and outs of selling on ebay, and put up a quick FYI post for the peeps here once I'm ready to start the auction. Domodomoarigatou :)

you will curse a lot :)
starting from fees (about 9%) to payment options (paypal only if new(or at least I got this one)) to payment dates (ebay gives you the money 30 days after they received it, so sell it today, get your money in march).

I've heard people talk about the 30 day delay with ebay payments, but that hasn't been my experience. I haven't sold much, but got the money immediately. So I'm not sure why some get the delay.

You could try posting it on the forums for $150 (or whatever seems like a good price to you) for a week. Then if no one takes it, put it on ebay with a lower reserve price and just post an update on the thread with a link to the ebay listing. And, with paypal, just make sure you get tracking for the package and if you can require a signature then you shouldn't have any problem with the person claiming they never received it.

sorry for the delay in responding, guys - I had had to clear my auto-logins for my PC and hadnt realised that (obvs) included CMoN. So, I havent actually been logged in, and thus missed the fact that this thread had been posted to. *kowtows* gomen ne.

Anyway, many thanks for your comments. I only just today got around to digging out the mini. Nearly had a heart attack when I couldn't find the CoA, then realised it was under the foam in the box. phew! So, I think I'll be putting her up on ebay within the next few days. Kinda preparing myself to wince at the cut they're gonna take (especially as I'll have to deal with international money changes, due to being in Japan) but hey ho let's give er a whirl...

I have shipped a few things from E-bay over the years.

I always use Pay Pal and US postal service. I FLat Rate everything I ship so have tracking numbers I post as soon as I get them. Never had a customer try to get their money back and Tracking numbers prove it was delivered to the customer. Biggest issue I had was a buyer from China win one when I state US only. Seems you have to go through all sorts of hoops and menus to set your account up to only accept payment from certain countries. Just clicking No international shipping does not stop them from bidding. Good news was they gave me a US address to send it to.

ho hum. all quiet on the bidding front, it would appear. Last 24hrs. A few interested parties, no bids. I'll just away and sing the "nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I think I'll go and eat worms" sad song to myself in the corner. Ach weel, thems the breaks, as they dont often say in my bonnie homeland...

yep and as I see you have competition, that's always good to drive the price higher :D

aand it ended. Not much higher, but still for a pretty good price.
