how the voting works

does anyone know how the voting system works? what i mean is how it is decided which mini shows up for voting. i thought that minis with under 50 votes were given priority? i only ask as i submitted several pics a few weeks ago and some went to 50/60 votes and slowed down but 3 others submitted at the same time are all on 24/25 votes and have been for 2 weeks. Added a newer one a week or so ago and that went past the 50 mark no problem

There are lots of factors I think, and something called an Al Gore Rithm.

Basically, if a mini has LESS than 50 votes, it gets a priority and appears more than one with more than 50. Also, because of the way some folks vote, a higher scoring mini will garner more votes (some people set it to only vote on 8+ minis for instance).

I can only assume the newest one is scoring higher, thus getting more votes?

This is all conjecture on my part.

First, you vote on a mini. Then, as you\'re looking elsewhere, they change the color of the backdrop. Then, after you\'ve voted on the second mini, the man in the gorilla suit changes the table cloth. It\'s all very complex and difficult to explain, but...

The man in the gorilla suit is Al Gore and he controls the weather. He also gets to decide which minis are getting more than 25 votes as a thank you for inventing the Internet all those years ago.

The browsing code is set up to place priority on miniatures that have not yet received 50 votes, but the voters/viewers of CMON can exercise a fair amount of input into their browsing experience that\'ll influence how often a particular miniature is viewed. As mentioned, some folks browse to only look at high-scoring minis. Others might set different parameters, so they might be looking only at minis of a certain manufacturer, or a certain genre. I think some voters don\'t do that, but self-edit in the sense that they just skip to the next image and don\'t vote on a mini that isn\'t a genre/brand/whatever that personally interests them. So you may find that minis from GW and whatever company is \'hot\' right now, minis of attractive scantily-clad women and sci-fi and fantasy minis get votes faster than male, fully-clothed historical minis from more obscure companies. ;->

Mine don\'t, I have three scantily clad females all sitting on about 25votes now for weeks.

The other things that is likely hapening is that your minis are coming up on people voting pages and they are choosing not to vote. Look at the number of views and that will be an indication.

I have a dragon that has been up for I think 3 months now that still only has 25 or so votes.

I think in my case, people are going with the \'if you don\'t have something nice to say\' rule :)

Nice pimp of the mini. I voted. More contrast and basing but I think the mini is under rated. I voted a 6 anyway back on thread its who ever hasnt annoyed Vike this week that get all the votes.

That seems odd to me, particularly as they are Hasslefree, which are quite popular, and nicely painted. I guess that while there are voting trends, the CMON voter is still a mysterious beast.

I have also been wandering, it seems like it\'s around 10% of the views that actually votes(atleast in the beginnig). Why - I mean I vote when I take a look at a mini - any thoughts? I know some is reviews by your self and others and it can be related to update issues, but surely they can\'t count for all of them:duh::cussing: (my kid\'s here deciding wich smilies to use in case you wandered)

i too just load up the voting page and vote on each pic in turn no matter what it is. I do sometimes search if i want inspiration for a mini i am doing but thats it. the views ti vote ratio is usually about 1 in 3 or 4 i think

Not always the case I think. I have libby and her Pussy Cat up at the moment and despite all the comments being around 9 or 10 she is sat at 7.6 so how do you work that out other than the fact that Hasslefree is maybe not that popular or people are slating it because of Libbies figure???

The CMoN voter is definately a mysterious beastie :D

I\'ve noticed that my minis with the lowest number of votes have been getting a lot more attention lately. The additional attention has not really worked in my favor (not complaining, please don\'t take it that way). Could this be because my minis are set up to be seen more often simply because they had under 25 votes? I only ask because two of my minis which had 21 or 24 votes now both have 61 votes and have gone down in score by more than a point. It almost seemed like a glitch or something.

I just noticed that it\'s three of my minis, not two, and they have all gone down to 4.7 or 4.9. Is there such a thing as vote bombing? I\'m starting to sound a little \"there was a 2nd shooter on the grasst knoll\" but it just seems a little odd that three of my minis all of a sudden have the exact same number of votes.
