How to Approach Demon Prince

I was noticing something while thinkin about how im going to start on this mini. his body is all armor , so would i need to use some sorta NMM which i have no clue how to do or is there any other technique that can make armour look good. Please help. Thanks

Ok here is the pic. Although its no longer painted that way its been stripped and just primed black
