This is how the points get added to your licence:

If you get a fixed penalty notice through the post which also carries
penalty points the computer system first sends you a demand for the cash.

When you have paid, it then sends a demand to return your licence for
endorsement.

It cannot handle the licence endorsement and the payment at the same time,
and it cannot process the points part of the system until the financial
section is complete..

If you overpay the fixed penalty, it must issue and send a refund cheque
for the overpayment.


Therefore, overpay the fixed penalty by sending a cheque for the full amount
plus £1.

The computer will then automatically generate a refund cheque for the
over-payment and send it to you.

**** Do not cash this refund cheque - DUMP IT.

The system then remains 'open' and cannot generate the 'send your licence
for endorsement' demand part of the program.

It does, however, record your payment of the fixed penalty, so it does not
trigger the 'follow-up unpaid fine' stage.

As there is no human intervention, the system will leave you alone, since
it has got your money, which is the primary objective!

If you don't sign the first thing they send you, they send it back but it goes to the bottom of the pile and they have to action it within a certain time period

I'm sorry, but what's the significance of having, or not having points? I assume having them is bad, but what's the result of having, say, 9 points? Does the fines get higher? Will you eventually lose your license?

12 points and your banned, i believe for a certain time (years) then you have to do another driving test. Never had any. (never been caught) My brother is forked though, he has Toyota Celica GT4 tuned to 380 BHP and got caught doing 50 mph in a 40 zone. He has only been driving a year. A young muppet.

I am not convinced, usually a system will be built so that when something out of the ordinary happens such as the full part of a process not occurring (as in this case) a work item will be set up in order to bring it to the attention of a human operator to correct it.

I'm not saying where I work, but if something happens on a computer system where I work and it's not something that is in the set of rules that the program has it will flag it for review by a real person. We have a similar situation in work where if certain things don't occur then processes will not complete and cases remain "open". These cases are always recorded as needing further work by a real person.

Not speeding is a daft answer. Don't get caught, that's where the trick is. I have a knack of spotting speed cameras, even traffic cars on motorway bridges (they are the tricky ones)

I'm not going to jinx it by saying how often I've been done.

My boss had a clean license, she drove through three speed camers on the way to a destination. Then back through the same cameras on the way back. Bam! 18 points and a 1 year ban (that she got reduced to 6mths at court). Still funny though, it wasn't like the cameras were new or anything.

No matter how bad a system is written when it comes to a govt body wanting money there's no way I can believe them leaving such an easy loophole.

There's no point system in sweden. Not that I'm aware of! I drive like a midsummer breeze, so if there were a point system I wouldn't come in contact with it

speed camera's, always check your ticket a camera in th uk had been struck by lightening (according to the government/local authority) and had been handing out fines for vehicles driving UNDER the speed limit! the worse thing about it is that people had paid the fines, plonkers!!!!

here,s a bit o trivia it costs more to print/produce a book of tickets than the total of the fines contained in it.. and we wonder why the country's in the state it is

I find it hard to believe that the fine-book(?) is costlier than the combined fines.

And even if that´s the case I would say that sanctioning people when they break the law isn´t really about cost-effectiveness on the small scale.

As far as the cost of the book being more than the fines?
Here in MI, USA its about $120 for 5 over, Red light/fail to stop $135, even the parking tickets are like $35+ depending on the city.
