How to base her?

Hi there!
I\'m starting painting this mini

14020_G.jpg

I\'ll give her a torquoise armor and purple underskirt, maybe blond hair (or white/light blue... why not?)

my problem is: how to base her? she\'s staindind on the top of a roof it seems, so i can\'t put some grass and stones around her...
i was thinking about some fog or cloud made of cotton... what do you think about it? any other idea?

thanks

I always thought it was a grave stone! Not sure the big flat slab works for me as part of a roof.

A grave stone? uhm i was thinking the same, but then i noticed there\'s a window in the lower part of the base...

i\'m not sure about it :|

You could extend it, so it continues like a sort of chimmney downwards all the way to the roof slope, where you could use some plasticard to simulate roof tiles. Might need a bigger base though!

Alternatively, leave it as is, the viewer will automatically fill in the gap and interpret it as they want. It looks already \'based\' in that sense.

I\'d say, no cotton. Can\'t really explain why, just don\'t think it will look good. You can add bricks and perhaprs, birds -- it\'s a roof, after all!

i say cut off the bottom bit a make it look like a gravestone. saves a lot of effort making it lok like part of a house. then you can just do the dirt/leaves/grass thing

You could make it the top of a tomb that has been buried into the ground? The flat bit is the top, and the window is above the door, that has cut down steps to get into, through the turf or earth or stone or whatever the tomb has been set in.

Looking at the bottom bit where the so called window arch starts you can still see brick work in it so I would go along with the others and make it a tomb stone :D

If you are not that happy with it file off the arch there is not that much of it or turn it into a decorative spire, that might work given the cross on top.

I agree with Margo, I don\'t think cotton would work well, although some kind of fog effect would be nice (and it would make it clear that it IS a rooftop she\'s standing on).

By the way, what mini is that? I want one too! :)

thanks to all, i think i\'ll consider that a buried chapel or something similar, so i\'ll cover the base with earth/grass/leaves etc. like it\'s a grave stone... a lot of work saved :D

2 crazy options:
1- build a model church underneath her.

2- mount her in a bowl of dry ice, add water - voila! instant clouds/fog (I\'d only do this for photo purposes)

Luca,

I\'d agree with Martyn\'s last suggestion. I\'d cut the arch off completely and put it on the ground like it is a tombstone.

Cheers,

if you do that youd have to paint it up qll dark and creepy. :)
maybe even add some dead vines going around the tombstone.
