Hello, I would like some help on the subjet of building conic roofs, like on this pic :

airhead

Coffin Dodger / Keymaster
water cooler (cone cups) ?

they are straight cones though, not the curved face that one has.

Terragenisis?
Hirst Arts?

I would do it with a foam cutter with the shapable wire - then spin the foam.

like this

You could also build a framework underneath out of plasticard or plastic rod. Small \"gauge\" plastic rod glued into position with thin plasticard \"tarpaper\" might work well, with either balsa or card shingles cut to shape and glued individually over top of that. The \"three step\" method would probably be pretty stout as far as stability and the like, too. Just my two cents. ;)

I think the best way would be to make different-sized disks out of card, spaced a cm or so apart on some support, which would define the shape of the roof. Then lay thin card strips over that vertically to cover. Finally, shingle. I guess my method is pretty much the same as Elvis\'...

I have made a couple of round roofs by using a cone made from a circle with a quadrant(?) cut out and the two ends glued together.

The bigger the cut out - the narrower the cone.

Cut two or three circles out and make increasingly narrow cones which you can then glue one on top of the other to create the reducing profile.

i am using the cones from the mill where my aunt works. the yarn comes in them and is respun onto larger ones and they throw the smaller ones away.

dont know if it will help.

alternately you could get those paper ones that hold popcorn (if they still make them), or even a party hat and use it for the cone shape and work from there.

Why not just make them out of thin card?

Either cut individual \"shingles\" (look ma I can speak American:D) and apply one by one. Or cut rows of tiles- a strip of card with cuts half way across to represent the tiles. Build up from the bottom and finish with a strip over the apex of the roof.

It\'s more difficult with a round roof and I would use individual tiles for that.

Base coat in tile colour - red or grey and dry brush to pick up the edges of each tile!
