How to paint dirt specks?

I\'m painting some white handwraps on a mini, and I want to weather them so there are little dots of dirt on them. Anyone know of anything I can add to the paint to give this effect? I\'ve seen the tamiya weathering sticks, but don\'t know how they would work.

Did you want the paint to go on so that it looks like little clumps of dirt sticking to the surface? If so then talc works okay, as does spackle or plaster.

Try a toothbrush with paint on the bristles and flick the bristles near where you want the specks. I\'m going to TRY to do some granite that way.

MIG weathering powders are easy to use, can\'t comment on the Tamiya.

Either dry, mixed with water/acrylic-medium or Turpentine (can be used to fix dry powder). Work with them AFTER you have varnished a mini, varnish makes dry power vanish!

I\'ll try those suggestions, thanks for the responses.
Ideally, what I\'d really like is something along the lines of the metal flakes in metallic paints. But it would be black specks instead if that makes sense. Something I can actually paint with. I\'ve had some bad paint behave like this accidently, and it would be nice to create this effect intentionally.

You can mix dirt/sand into paint, which might give what you\'re looking for?

Best not to do the mixing with any decent brush and apply it with a second-string brush, not your best round, as it can be very wearing on the bristles.
