Hello dear people,

I want to paint some dinosaur models but in a proper "realistic" way if that makes sense?

I have been searching high and low, several times over the span of years, but gave up every time because I just couldnt find a proper way or ways how to paint them

the ones from the Stan Winston studios and the JP movies have this "realistic" look, I wish I could go in that direction somehow. and I now that's aiming for the moon, but still. there must be some ways somehow ?

I can recall books from school and the library where the dinos and this real look also with the camo patters, but that is also hard to find somehow on the internet somehow, or I am looking in the wrong direction.

thank for thinking along and helping me out :)

Not sure of how many people are posting tutorials for painting "realistic" dinos, but I would probably say look at still images from shows such as Walking With Dinosaurs or maybe some Museum/Archeology renditions of what they believed the skin to look like and then try to match that with your painting. Actually found a person going by Kayakasaurus (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WleOkJ30Ac) but he doesn't really say what colors he is using and it looks like he is just using craft paints, but they do look pretty good and he has quite a few videos. Here is one from Dr Faust for a T-Rex that looks pretty good: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBGuB5_LZKo) and this one from paepercuts: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJ6TfW14WgM)

I would say check out more of Kayakasaurus's videos as I noticed he has a bunch of them

well, as said in my first post, and should have voiced it more clearly perhaps; I wanted them to have that Jurassic park feel or look, that is what I meant by "realistic" :)

thanks for all the input and help dear people, I really appreciate it. anyway, I have started with the project. will post more pics when done in the WIP section , again thank you :) View attachment 80899View attachment 80900
