that doesn\'t look like metal with some orange ink on it? Any ideas? I\'m painting some AEG undead samurai and need the rust look for thier weapons.

GW flesh wash is actually kinda brown while Chestnut is reddish.. perhaps an equal mix of each or an application of one than the other. On the other hand, if you\'re trying for an opaque rust, Vallejo\'s Calvary Brown is a nice reddish brown that can be drybrushed on with good results.

I use earth tone chalks and grind them up. After that you just dry-brush them onto the surface your working on.

The best way I have used to reproduce rusted items id to prime the part with black, drybrush with white, wash all with a sepia ink (also the GW Chestnut ink work well)
When the ink is dry I will add a light drybrush using Vallejo Light Orange.
You can see the results browsing the images 8208, 3730 or looking in my site, I have painted all the Rackham Mid-Nor dwarfs for a client in this way

The way that I do rust is to paint the piece you want rusted as you would normally do.
Then wash the entire piece with a mixture of chesnut ink, water and just a touch of talcum powder (to roughen the look.)
Dry brush over the piece again with your original color. The turnout looks quite real.
I used this method on the sword of my most recent piece, #15666

I tend to drybrush the metal as usual but then use ink washes to get the result I want. I normally start of with pretty heavy dark brown washes and then use thinner glazes of chestnut and brown. Eventually you\'ll get the colour you want!

If you want to produce serious corrosion then you could try using a rusting product available from model shops! I\'ve never used it myself but the results look very good. Don\'t know how it would look on a figure though!
