How to put on a different weapon?

If you have a few of the same mini and want to make them different, how do you put on a different weapon? I know that Reaper sells Weapon Packs. And I you are good at sculpting you could scuplt one with greenstuff. But when you have the weapon how do you put it on? Do you cut off the hilt and try to drill a pin into the hand and the remaining hilt? Do you drill a big hole in the hand and JB Weld it in? ???

Weapon swaps are probably the easiest and most common of conversions...

Personally, I hate building weapons from putty, so I\'ll steal them from somewhere else, or build a blade from plasticard.

The easiest method for attaching the weapons is through pinning. Drill a small hole in the butt-end of your weapon blade or hilt, up as high as you want to go, and then another hole in the hand you want the weapon to be held in.
After that, cut a piece of thin wire to length, and glue it into one of the holes. Then dab some more glue into the empty hole, and feed the wire into the hole...
And.... viola! instant weapon swap...

Dr. Faust\'s Painting Clinic has a nice little article on how to differentiate identical figures by clever conversions and painting. I highly recommend the entire site. I\'m with Badaab on using weapons from other sources before scratch building them. It\'s a real hassel at this scale and definitely don\'t use greenstuff to make anything other than organic shapes unless absolutely necessary. Reaper, Heresy, and GW all produce weapon packs that eliminate the need to cut up and bitzbox a figure to get a new weapon. I really like the Gorkamorka weapons pack. Big pistols and two handed axes, what more can you ask for.

Pining is a requirement for using the weapon packs. If you want to swap the whole hand then pining is recomended, but not required.

GW usually has good \"breaks\" in its models for hand & weapon swaps. Even their plastic zombies wear all sorts of bracelets, bracers and rags to provide a convenient cutting place for conversions

I\'m very lazy when it comes to this. I usually just do like others and cut off another weapon. However, I don\'t get into the excessive pinning and greenstuf. I just glue them on ad pray they hold. This is because I have a hard time in judging the drill bit size I\'ll need, along with wire. In fact, I\'ll only pin if I really need it because of weight or if the area\'s large enough so\'s I can get it in right.
