How to repair damaged chainmail

Easiest way is to carefully drill out each damaged hole with a pinvice and drill the same size as the other mail holes.
Time consuming yes, but for a display standard mini, worth it.

You could always create a green stuff or InstantMold Press mould of the chain mail area. Once you have filed down the effected area and applied a little green stuff putty you would apply the (slightly lubricated) press mould. Might be tricky aligning the mould to match the adjacent area though. Just a thought.

As moonmini suggested or instead of using a press mould you can cut a groove and fill with greenstuff and mark the chainmail out with a pin or needle, just remeber on each row as you go down to alternate the direction you push the pin in.

Row 1 needle comes from the left second row from the right and so on

Since you can still sort of make out the chainmail pattern in the effected area i'd try some liquid green stuff or similar and a fine brush and paint over the pattern till you have a raised more defined chainmail pattern
