how to sculpt long fine hair like Sephiroth?

Hello

My my Project Apollyon, I am not at the hair stage yet....but am trying to plan a head a bit.

Here are pics that I want the hair to be like....

On the model\'s back, I want the hair to come down mid back or even to the waste...

Would i use really thin strands of GS and then try and score it with a knife?

THe sculpture is 7 or 8 inches tall, so quite large.

Use barbie doll hair, and glue it into a solid formation. You might have to experiment with different glues.

(I havent actually tried this myself, but I thought it could be a good idea)

For a Sepiroth fanatic you are pretty bad at spotting him. He is exactly where Starfyre said in both pictures.

As for the query, I haven\'t ever tried to sculpt really fine hair like you are after, but I imagine that a good way to do it would be to layer strands over a supportive shape (made out of foil or something similar), leave it to dry out a lot and begin to cut the strands thinner, pretty much as you said. You could make this work even better though by teasing them out as you cut them (Green Stuff is quite stretchy when close to dry) with the tip of the blade, taking care to keep them firmly secured at the top but thinning them more and more at the bottom by stretching them.

Do it in parts, take time over it, and it should work. You can then trim off any bits that are too long once it has dried.

Sounds like IONO is just about right there. Fine strands dried on a flexible surface.
If you want the finish to be a little stiffer than greenstuff try Brown stuff.
