What I did was go to the library and get a book on body building (weight lifting) and simply copy what I saw in the book. The muscles are so exaggerated that they are easy to see.

a good idea of the basics is any foster\'s goblin here as for the rest of the musculature, as shawn said, look at anatomy and body building books to have a look at what oversized anatomy looks like and scale it down. to see some fantastic anatomical sculpts in various stages of completion, look at the hasslefree wip page, kev white is a fantastically talented git!!

*edit* shawn, did you ever finish that guitar space dude? got any more pics?

There\'s no real \'trick\' to sculpting muscle, any more than there are tricks to painting an apple v. painting an orange. Other than physically being able to do the work, the real key is merely observation, so in the case of musculature just hunt for references and try to copy what you see - anatomy books (in rough order of how useful I think they\'ll be: Burne Hogarth; Bammes; Bridgman; Civardi; Rubins; Loomis and last but not least, Bruno Lucchesi for doing it in 3D), bodybuilding mags, existing sculpted work.

For minis obviously there\'s a lot of compression and exaggeration typically, so that\'ll need some application on your part to get right if you\'re using any of the realistic references.

as einion said, looking at it in 3d really helps. ihave some reaper armatures which would be cack for actually sculpting over as they are soooooo big, but they have some useful help for heroic proportions. hasslefree do very nice realistic 28 mm scal (i think) armatures that are the badgers nagers if you ask me. i have found them extremely helpful. get some other models with good muscular detail and have a look at them. maybe even pull your sculpting tools over them so you can get a feel of how the surface should feel. sounds odd but sometimes i find it helps

shucks!

for some reason i really struggle with spacial thinking and can\'t work out how some anatomy fits together (i have to think of muscle origins and insertions). i gave it ago after seeing something about muscle memory and just find it helps a bit

Krokar I can tell you that you never saw it. Our financier ran off without ever publishing most of our stuff. The one that got published was an unequivocal piece of the proverbial shit.
