How to Spend Extra Cash-V. 2.0!

I\'m about to put in an order for the models I\'m using for next years Golden Demon comp. I figure I may as well put in for a few paints as well since I need to refresh my Bleached Bone supply. Don\'t buy chaos black, vallejo\'s black is much nicer ??? . Don\'t forget flesh ink and chesnut ink is useless. Beasty brown is a great mid-tone brown that is a mustin my opinion.

I know what you mean about the chestnut ink. Someone fumbled my paint order a while back and I figured it would be okay to keep around. I have yet to use it. :flame:

I can\'t get vallejo colours because no one in the area sells them and I\'d much rather just stick with GW.

And I forgot Bestial Brown! I have the paint, so cross that off the possible list.

By the way Tammy, I\'m eagerly awaiting an update to the Nurgle Paintathon. Should I give up hope or is it coming . . . eventually.

Here\'s Tammy\'s announcement on her Yahoo list:

most people will have noticed(still haven\'t finished the model), and
I\'ll be taking that offline soon too, to make room for a new
Paintathon. I WILL be posting a full article on the model when i\'ve
painted it, with full stage by stage shots, so don\'t worry, you will
not be missing out.

OK
Scab Red
Kommando Khaki(best paint.. evar !)
And you seriously need some Dark Angels green.
More inks..
Black, blue, red, flesh wash.

Well.. tentacle pink and golden yellow would also be nice additions.

Okay, Scab Red, Komando Khaki and Dark Angels Green, all colours I was thinking of picking up, seems I will be.

Black ink along with some Red for blood (I do not like inks much, I prefer to just really thin paints) and I\'ll pick up some Tentacle Pink as I\'m sure a use for it will shine through eventually.

I use tentacle pink for the top highlight of exposed wounds...just a thought.

Chesnut ink also has its uses - I make my common gaming bases like the GW nurgle army, with the ink over the unpainted sand, then drybrushed with snakebite leather and bleached bone. It\'s also nice for glazing goldish metals, if you want a break from brown, and you paint metallics that way.

I have to second the Kommando Khaki...one of their most useful colors in a great long while. After black and white...:D

You really should try out Vallejo. It\'s cheaper, better quality and comes in nice \'dropper\' bottles. I bought a couple and liked em so much I replaced all my GW paints. It\'s an investment I have never regretted......:)

The problem is that I have no way of obtaining Vallejo colours in this area. There isn\'t a single store within an hours drive which sells them and my parents sure as hell aren\'t driving me to Toronto.

Ah right! Wounds! Will be extremely useful for my zombie knights I converted recently.

Isn\'t there a way to mail order them? It\'s worth it. You might also want to try Adikolor. They don\'t have as large of a range as Vallejo (by a long ways) but they area local company for you, and the quality is quite comparable.

Whoa.. you\'re FVC off portent ? Cool :)
Tentacle pink is also nice to mix in for lips.
But if you\'re doing blood, try to get flesh wash too. Red Gore + Red Ink + Flesh Wash is a great(IMO) recipe.

I haven\'t bought Dark Angels Green in a while but I noticed that GW seem to have changed the colour sometimes during the 5 years or so I bought my last pot. It was way darker before and in my opinion a much better tone than what it is now.
Does Vallejo still make the old Dark Angels Green or does anyone know a Model Colour or something that comes close to it?

Ah, I see my reputation precedes me which is a true shame because I figured I might be able to get people here to like me.

Well the main thing is that I have so many GW paints, I don\'t want to have to go out and buy a whole new set of colours. Maybe when I have the money to do this, but as it stands I am comfortable with GW paints and do not feel I have the funds or the need to change.

I swear by chestnut ink. I think I would cry if it was ever discontinued. Thinly applied it is fantastic for adding depth to a color. Moderately it\'s a nice reddish alternative to brown ink. Applied thickly it creates a weird yellowy green glaze over the basic chestnut color that\'s great for making nurgley stuff look rotten or slimey. It\'s also my rust color of choice. It\'s about the same color as dark flesh, so I will often use it to mix with a highlight color for fleshtones. Mixed with bleached bone it becomes somewhat pinkish.

It\'s an american company, but http://www.thewarstore.com is great, and all GW stuff is 20% off list, which might offset shipping costs if you\'re not already ordering from someplace with a discount. Check out their international orders page.
