How to use Liquitex Slow-Dri retarder,

can any help please, i want to try useing Slow dri, but dont now how, i have used the branf ofFlow aid wich i had to my water bottle but the slow dri does not say to mix with water, how do i make sure i only use 25% by volume when you only get 1 drop of paint from the reaper paints , can any one who use slow-dri please help, can i had this ti water and then to paint or just add to paint.

do what you want. just keep an eye on how much you add. if adding to just one drop of paint, just add a teeny bit

i think you're probably better off adding it to water first, and then to your paint. I usually only use water, but I do have an empty paint dropper with some water and slo-dri mixed together for those times when I do need it.

I don't use the Liquitex, but I do mix a retarder with my water. Mix up about a pint at a time (.1 Liter) - not being exact here at all.

About 10% retarder depending on the brand. I don't want to be here all day waiting on paint to dry, but I don't want it drying on the brush either.

Drop or two of dish soap as a flow aid.

Another 10%-20% with glazing media or airbrush media to add some binder.
(others use floor wax for the last two).

Then water.

Put this in an empty dropper bottle, then you can dispense as needed.

Try to eyeball it/visualise it, but err on the side of caution to be on the safe side*. All you should need is a small amount to give you a good increase in working time.

*It's worth seeing firsthand why you need to be careful of adding too much, so try a 1:1 mix with a dot of paint.

think i am getting there now, Einion, tried the one to one mix to see, and now no the meanng of little is more, thanks again guys hope to get some practice done then will give it a real go when i take delivery of my Reaper Monique Du Noir (54mm) will do a wip on this to get help as i go,
