How would you describe your style?

That\'s a really good point, actually. Being able to understand and bring out the character of a model is really half the challenge and half the fun of painting if you ask me. Which is why these classic Dwarfs are so damn fun, they are goofy and lighthearted, with like half of the crossbowmen drinking or smoking lol

I\'d say I try to go for a more cartoony style, bright colours and fairly sharp highlights. sort of Games Workshop style circa 1995.

my current style is \"foundry\" but since joining this forum have been working at a top end display style (I see nothing wrong with foundry for table top std)
Have just completed a teaching piece which will photo tomorrow showing the steps of my gaming std.

I also have a hard time using anything but dark and natural colors.

How about posting a pic of your stuff here on this post ET, so we can see if your \'idea\' of your style matches....

This is just a WIP pic, but here you go...

I guess my style could be described as \"bright\" or \"high-contrast\" but I think any uniqueness I may display tends to come from my model choices rather than how I paint them.

I would have loved to have developed a brush style similar to SaxonAngel\'s, but the free, easy-looking highlights and general lively feel almost always evaded me.

In a perfect world I would be able to describe my \"style\" as dark and gritty. real with a dose of bleak.

However, going from the comments left by the CMON\'ers I would have to describe my style as \"Lacking contrast, rough blends, shitty metals, and lack of any discernable focal point\".

I\'ll kill you all! I swear I will! -insert menacing emoticon here-

I suppose to have a painting style, one would have to paint. Rules me out. I would have to say that on the rare occasion I get to paint I would go for a realistic shadows and highlights in an attempt to make really good looking skin - not always in normal skin colors. By that time I am usually just try to get the model done so everything else looks pretty shoddy.

Yeah, I\'d really have to say it depends on the model. But I\'m happy for right now to just get smooth blends and good contrasts. I\'m working towards hopefully a hyper-realisim. Authentic, plausible colors but with an extra fantastical edge. i.e. I need lots of work! I\'d show an example, but all I have are not even half done WIPs, so *sigh*.

High-contrast watercolor style. I am not a blendy painter at all and have never done well trying to paint that way.

Postmodernism with elements of pre-apocalyptic apostasy and \"liberal reference to cubism surrealism, and expressionism without adhering to the stylistic purity of modernism\". lol

Sorry, I couldn\'t resist :)

I usually paint my minis in a realistic way with earthly colours. I do it all the time except when I paint a chaotic mini, I try to do them quite surnatural even if there are details to make them a bit realistic. For 40K minis, it\'s totally different: as I only paint orks and space marines I do blendings on each area. I like painting minis quite darkwith a clear base.
