How would you rate wargames?

Ive been playing (well i say playing) since i was 9 and while i did have my moments i dont think i could ever be considered too young to appreciate the game. I think its more a case of who you personally want to game with than the \"appropriote age\", playing a brat is no fun be they 8 or 18. Being elitist about painting skill or anything else is also wrong, everyone starts somewhere and while some do their homework and start the hobby \"one step ahead\" most (myself included) take several years before they find the knowhow to acheive results they are even happy with.
It depends purely upon the child as to whether they are ready to join the ranks of gamers.

@MarkusTay : actually, they\'re dressing up again here (breast cancer do to sun exposition was getting alarming).

Oh well, old grannys were the ones going around topless anyway  But you know french aren\'t the only people on french beaches :p And anyway, there\'s nothing wrong with a nice paire of breasts :innocent:

And that is the main reason I don\'t like topless beaches. oh hi! What\'s those two round things between your kneecaps.. oh.. a pair of nipples, huh? yeah.. gtg now.. just need to go and erase my memory.

ROFL. No vacation in France for you then :p Well you do get the occasional young pair of breast glimps, you just have to try to focuse on that to forget the others ;) :D
( Hummmm seems like we\'ve managed to deviate the subject to breasts once more :innocent: )

To respond to Levdir, it really depends on the individual kid. I would let my son who just turned 14 play 40K because he is very mature for his age. I\'ve seen early teens at my LGS pointing and giggling at the naked breasts on some models, and I don\'t think they should be playing.

Your point is well taken. A couple of the younger kids at my LGS (especially the owner\'s son) are not bad, but one rowdy, disruptive kid throws everyone off. Lucky for them, we as a whole (some more than others, I have an admittedly short temper for stupidity and am something of a hypocrite in that regard) try to be patient and helpful so as not to scare them off of the hobby.

How do I rate wargames?? FUN. I used to do paint ball competetion and it was a blast. Ocassionally though I would be hiding, waiting to take a shot, and it would hit me - what if this was real?? A cold chill went up my spine. Instead of fostering a KILL attitude in me, it gave me a healthy fear of the real thing.

Personally I think that someone has got to have that blood lust in them, weather they have played wargames or not, before they go and shoot up Mc Donalds (re. The Lord of the Flies). The games dont automatically make you a killer.

When I was a wee little lad EVERYONE played army, cops and robbers, etc.... Even as a tot, we knew it was a game. Basically tag with plastic guns in our hands. I wasnt thinking \"I\'m going to KILL Bobby\". My quest was \'gotcha\'. And even when the question of real violence would arise it was instilled in us that there were very strict perameters to it\'s appropriatness and use. Played with alot of guns, bombs, bazooka\'s, laser guns, whatever. I\'m 43 and have never been in a fight. Not that I didnt have the oppertuninty.
