How you get your nick...

No exiting story other than everything else I was trying was taken already. Flashman (from the hillarious books by George MacDonald Fraser) was just the last one that worked though it had to have a 14 after it to distinguish it from the Flashman1, the Flashman2?, the Flashman3? etc, etc that was out there already?????

I\'m thinking about using just my real name. But I bet that\'s taken already . . . lol

Mine\'s simple (there\'s a surprize)!
it comes from a sort story I read many years ago in an anthology about Dragons. Sadly the book has been lost over the years and house moves.
Basically a \'Reach\' is a realm, ruled by a single creature. Therefore Dragons Reach = Dragons realm. Which is what I wanted to call our house.
However, She who must be obeyed, decreed that she didn\'t like that and we would call it Dragons Lair, which has stuck.

We have a very large sign with that on the side of the house. Boy you should see the looks on the faces of the Jehovah\'s Witnesses & Mormons who have come around!

All in fun!

No Such Agency

I\'ve used this nick since my old days of playing Quake online. I\'m quite a fan of the X-files, so when a character appeared who worked for the NSA (a shadowy and minimally-accountable American intelligence agency) I thought it\'d be a good tough-guy nickname to use while fragging. Of course I can never take anything too seriously so I used the old intelligence community joke... because there\'s \"no such Agency\".

Nickname

ZeCorto is \'The Corto\' pronounced the French way.
Originaly my alias was Corto (from Corto Maltese by Hugo Pratt) but ever since The Neuromancer by William Gibson it is taken everyehere, so I added Ze to be certain no one would ever want to take it ...

I like a flutter on the nags and tend to go for big odds, 10-1 plus. Perhaps \'loser\' would have been a better choice! I use the same alias on other various sites. If you wanna try take some of my hard earned, see ya on the tables at Planet Poker. Low stakes tho!
Also i think it fits with wargaming... One warrior standing against ten?

Hmm, one day I was going through the Minneapolis Renaissance Festival with a few friends, and we game across a stand that sold necklaces based of Tarot cards. We decided that we should each have one that would be based off our personality, and the moderation (never do anything to an extreme) aspect of Temperance is why it was assigned to me; also I didn\'t drink at the time, mostly because I was underage (18). Now days you\'ll be able to get me with a good Guinness or other stout, but that\'s probably another story.

Considering that I haven\'t really been very moderate with miniature painting, I should probably choose a new name... lol

It feels strange telling my story scince Idon\'t post enough to be recognized, but anyway...

I was reading the two books Gav Thorpe wrote about the 13th legion, and at the end there was amention of a mechanicle hamster named Dennis. I loved the idea, and scince then have assumed the identity.

Sorry about that...back into my hole I go...

OK, Tuubje, since you asked for it, I\'ll endure the hunting and pecking to give you the full scoop on my nickname.
My wife\'s grandmother (a wonderful old world type) used to call her Dear heart as a term of affection during her childhood. My wife didn\'t know what this term meant and assumed she was calling her Deer (the animal) heart. Which she thought was a bit sick, but didn\'t want to argue with her gram. Many years pass and the Missus relates this story to me. At which time she is still under the assumption that she was being refered to as an animal heart... So I explained what I thought her gram was talking about and we had quite a good laugh (that degree of air-headedness is very out of character for her)
I have always been an avid player of role playing games (esp. D&D) as well as their computerized brethren (esp. all the Baldurs Gate series), and I had fallen into the rut of always playing a super do-gooder, holy-sword wielding, righteous paladin type. Fun, but getting dull. So I decided it was time for a change...
I asked myself, \"What\'s the opposite of everything you are accustomed to playing?\"
The result was a homely, alchoholic, short tempered, anti-social, self- centered, rusty hammer wielding dwarf who was completely base, vile and decadent. He entered our campaign as a flesh peddler, and although difficult I\'ve tried to carry this through to the computer games as well. His name? DeerHeart McFocker (said loudly like a pirate, go ahead it\'s fun...) The McFocker stems from both the film \"Meet the Parents\" and an old Bugs Bunny cartoon with this insane scottish golfer in it.
So why DeerHeart? It\'s nutty and fun, reminds me to try new things with my painting and gaming as well as fun times with my gal.
I\'ve also never had this much fun with a character before.:)
Keep painting-n-posting. I\'m off to bandage what remains of the stumps of my index fingers...

My nickname has gone through several incarnations since my online-y days began. At first, I chose Jubilee because it\'s my middle name. Eventually, I got tired of everybody asking me, \"Are you an X-man fan??\" because, while I am, I\'m not like.. an X-man groupie who would nickname herself after them =(. A friend granted my nickname a nickname of Jubbie (It rhymes with ruby) Goose (because I\'m silly). I was also alternately GoosiePie and SwedishCuteBall ??? for a while, but I recently decided I should grow up a little--Garnet is my birthstone and favorite gem, so I just stuck the two words together. I guess I was pretty desperate at the time.. lol

What a wonderful story...

Deerheart. Thanks for that. It contained a bit of magic. Have you ever thought of writing short stories?

Does remind me of a time however when I discovered that my wife firmly believed that mountain goats, hill sheep etc. were born with the legs on one side slightly longer than the other, in order that they would remain upright when standing on hillsides. Apparently, it had never occurred to her that they might turn around on occasion at which time.....!!!!

Hmmm....lollol

Thank you for your kind words Finn17. I\'ve got a soft spot for you as you\'re one of the few people who has left feedback for me on my minis, I may even forgive you for shattering my illusions about mountain goats...:D

Would that be the fabled animal with two legs longer than the others, and which you hunt by running around yelling \"Haggis ! Oh, Haggis !\", so that when it hears you it  turns around and promptly falls (dumb animal) lol ?
FYI it\'s called a \"dahu\" here in France. Apparently cognac and whisky lead to the same musings :)
