http://www.furzies.com/ Anyone else getting this pop-up?

Any thoughts on why this gets loaded in a pop-up window whenever I click on 'Browse gallery' from the front page? This PC of mine (Win XP v.3) has been very very thoroughly checked and is as free of gribblies as 20 years behind it will allow me.

Yet still it appears, which makes me think it's something I'm not aware of or there's someone being cheeky with access to the CMON server.

The thoughts of someone webmastery would be obsequiously appreciated.

Thanks in advance

PS Running Firefox here, but it's been checked and happens with IE and Chrome...

I just got it checking the painting competition link off the front page...I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the 'new releases (or whatever)' scroll found above the auction listings are found behind the 'today's posts' listings, in other words, pics everywhere on the screen...at least to me

(PS also using firefox)

...

So, the thot plickens...

Curiously my Firefox has now started blocking the aforementioned pop-up with it's in-built process screener. How queer. This sort of thing has happened before, so I imagine it's relatively easy to fix. My bet is a minor server-side hack or summat loik thaaaaaat.....

Go go CMON Interweb Repair Team!

I see the same thing, the home page is all messed up, and if I click on the sides of the screen, even on the bare black edges where there are no links, the furzie thing pops up! Been like this for at least a few days, maybe a week or so I think.

continuation (for dee nayshun)

Well, Furzies.com seems to be harmless but it is definitely server-side. Nothing on this machine refers to Furzies (I've been at it with the tweezers and all the painful tools), so I'm going to have a stab at a guess and say it's definitely something that has been put in by a hacker of some sort. Of course, now I've said that, some CMON webmaster will prove me wrong, but one has to have a try...

PS Thankyou everyone for your messages about the problem. One question - where in the world are you all? Because if we're all in the same country, that would add to the evidence and maybe help fix the issue.

Ah, that puts paid to some UK or Europe gateway doing it, so it might be on the CMON server or 'nearby'.

Is there any way to draw an admin's attention to this? I am officially pressing the Assistance Please button, and the reading light (for good measure)...

I'm getting the same problem. Kinda vexing. We need some kinda virtual grumpy farmer with a big pitchfork to chase off these annoying wee hacker types. "Gerrof moi laaarnd...."

btw, server-wise (and physically), I'm in Japan (obviously...) using Firefox and win XP.

I started getting the problem about a week or so ago, if that helps.

It's a pop under ad that shows to non-subscribers once per day :). Yes we're paid to do it. Bribe me with a $1 and it goes away.

Oh right, fine, got it, thanks! I suppose I'd better subscribe then...

Would it be impractical to request a small notification that the Furzies thing is 'legit' as it were? Maybe a header or somesuch?

Plenty of us morons seemed to think it was some sort of nasty, didn't we? Got to cater for the curious and idle...

yeah i thought it was something dodgey, the front screen doesnt display properly anymore, is that to do with the furzies thing?

A notification or something that it is legit would be good. I assumed site had been hacked.

I thought i did subscribe... ill have to check.

Something seems to be wrong with the 'once a day' programming, then. I get it every time I come to look at CMON, which I do multiple times in a day.

oh ya, if it is once a day, i get it whenever i click a link on the menu bar.. and when i click the black area on sides of screen...

Curiously I don't get it any more. Firefox started notifying me that it had 'prevented this page from opening a pop-up window' the day after my last post, although the pop-up did appear on one or two occasions.

Now there is nothing popping up when I click anything on CMON.

Which is nice.

As you were. Except for you. As you weren't

Same here. *sigh* :(

I thought either CMON or I had been hacked initially. It's irritating at best, and invasive at worst. Not what I expect from a site such as CMON. Sorry guys, but this sort of advertising is a PITA and will generally only serve to annoy people. Gah! :p

I'm not aware of anybody that likes opt-out spam, especially ones that ask you to pay for it to go away...

Edit - Killed it with my no-script thankfully. :)
