On the techniques: Washes in place of layering/wet-blending usually produces the best result!

On the model: I can see where you\'ve improved and I look forward to your next fig! The metals are the only thing that could use some serious work, but others have already touched on that in their feedback.

For you, perhaps! But you can\'t really generalise based on that!

After a little practice with washes it is far easier to get a smooth blend and I feel like there is more control. All the cool kids are doing it! lol

EDIT: But, in the end, it is still personal preference.

I think the skin looks absolutely spot on! Kudos for posting the big pics as well.

The main crit from me would be the metallics. You\'ve managed to get such a depth to the skin tones that the metallics stand out as a bit lacking in comparison. I\'d like to see a bit more colour and depth worked into them.

Top job though:beer:

Everyone has pretty much said everything but..
Nice mini matty! :D You definately have improved much. Your work is smooth but a bit too subtle. I like how the surface area of the Ilyad ones were very smooth as well. That is a good thing.

However... the judges should according to the guidelines give you something if just one miniature is above a certain level. But the miniature cabinets were crowded and I\'m not sure the judges had time to look at all the miniatures under good lighting.

Yep that edit pretty much sums it up. I\'v gotten into this technique over the course of a year but only after starting to do it myself, realised others did it (mainly the French fellas)
If it doesn\'t work for you, don\'t do it!

Cheers! Contrast is something I am drastically trying to \'up\' you can even see this from the female to the male barbarian.

I wasn\'t around enough to see if they did take all my models out of the cabinet, only noticed them judging my Death Korps model. So it is possible they didn\'t see my others, though I have no idea if they did or not.

Me an Tim were saying that the split in the arm could have stopped them from giving it an award, who knows?
If I had the time I would have spent it puttying over and repainting, but unfortunately once I got to Paris all I wanted to do was sleep lol as I hadn\'t slept for about 50hrs before that!

But I am honestly not going to bash the judges decision, not getting what I hoped for has really filled me full of drive and inspiration for next year. Perhaps if I did place, I wouldn\'t be so fixed and determined on improving ???

Plus if what Cedric says is true, the next Ravage Mix Open will be held at GenCon Paris, so loads more cabinet space for the entrys (they really were sagging under the weight lol )

But I came on and asked for harsh honest crit, and you lot have given me it, so cheers for that!
I WILL WIN THE SLAYER SWORD NEXT YEAR!!!
lol
