I am an idiot when it comes to NMM on flat surfaces...

Here is what I\'m looking at (the wings):

I\'d like to do them in silver NMM, but I\'m getting sick of simple green...

Help? Please....:(

First think that might help you is to put it under a very bright light so you\'ll see were the highlight should go.
The remeber that on metals there are very strong contrast, and a fast acceleration of light. So most of the surface will be in one or to shades of grey, with some very dark spots, and some very light spots. Try taking somthing metalic that has the same shape so you can see were highlights go. Well that\'s for the theory anyways. Good luck :)

Large flat surfaces are quite tricky to do good NMM on. Smoothness of blendings become extra important, since you have such large areas over which to blend, and it can be tricky to make the areas visually interesting when there are no filigree, markings, etc. On the other hand, the large areas gives you plenty of space to \'go crazy\' on. If you want them to be shiny you can make some quite extravagant reflections (follow Arthur\'s advice and look at real metal to see how it\'s supposed to look). If you want them weathered or such, you can make patches of oxidation or use freehand to paint scratches, nicks or other type of battle damage, to make them look more interesting.

What Ritual said.

These wings are one of the hardest things one could choose to try NMM on. Other than suggesting my usual of skipping minis entirely and studying the work of painters and illustrators so see how painted reflection should be done you might like to try using Google\'s image search for metal statues, you should be able to find some useful references of metal reflections.
