I am dusting off the bike-o-matic

As a self-proclaimed cyclist I have a confession to make: I\'ve only rode my bike ONCE in 6 months  I\'ve found excuse after excuse not to bother, ranging from it being too windy to feeling \'out of shape\' and building up the barriers as a result. So, without any further consideration, I am all kitted out and ready to cycle a 20-mile round-trip to work and back (later on of course). I\'m on my Gary Fisher hard-tail MTB, so the treads are chunky, baby! I should get some slicks on the beauty, but it\'s my stubborn streak that keeps me on treads to make it harder. My football has suffered a bit since I slowed down, so I\'m getting back on the fitness trail. I\'m playing squash again on Friday too, so everything is pointing in the right direction. God speed!

I\'m doing the same thing here too.. but its also to make short trips to the store and post office to save on gas..at $4.00 a gallon I can pedal my lazy ass the one mile to the post office and back.

Plus I need the exercise.

Godspeed

i wish i could cycle to work. that would mean i could save money on petrol and therfore afford the bike. sadly the 12.5 mile journey to work is too up and down for me to be useful for anything by the time i get to work!

Does that count?

Of course it does Vikey, all that heavy lifting is bound to get you in shape lol

I have a Gary Fisher hard-tail! With rock shocks and big old knobbies \'n\' everything!

I also have a steel plated clavicle... that I got from the Gary Fisher hard-tail. 8-|

Love biking, though. Too bad the season is so short up here. Good on ya for bustin\' out the bike. Keep it up! =)

Mine\'s a Wahoo with the Rock Shox - I was going to trade her in a month or two ago and get another machine, but the ratings on the frame are superb. I may just get some decent discs on the front and maybe some new shocks later.

The ride was cracking and I took it in my stride. There\'s a lot to be said for building up the stamina over a period of time - it hangs about and comes in useful. I\'m looking forward to the ride home too, as it\'s quiet on the roads at 10pm.

freak - are you in Llantrisant? That\'d be a bugger without a road bike :( Saying that, my old cycling comrade used to do it every day. He was hardcore though and entered races. Mad bastard :wow:

If work hadn\'t thrown up a big fat turd in my face today, I\'d say I would have been pretty happy, what with the ride and all. :flame:

:) I’m curious Reverend...... in California all bikes are suppose to be licensed ( which is not very much a couple of dollars I believe), most don’t bother. Are bikes licensed in the UK??

about the only thing our license fees are good for is half goes to the fire department and it helps sometimes when your bike is stolen ( which is rampant in SD).

We\'re talking bicycles, right? No licence required here! What madness! That\'s maybe why Lance Armstrong was so good - he was evading payment and had to keep pedalling fast to elude the authorities lol

Farts are one of life\'s pleasures. If they tried to tax our farts there would be a massive rebellion. I\'d be on the Parp Alliance side.

NSA - I don\'t fancy the softies either - they don\'t give enough \'feel\' for me.

By the way, my nether regions are already sore from the ride, so out of practice am I!

actually it counts as ynysmaerdy, but, yeah it\'s close to llantrisant. it would be easier with a road bike but like i say, i\'d be incapable of doing anything once i got to work. shame. would be easy if i worked at the heath
