I use fine piano wire to pin things like that. It\'s very fine and you have to have a really small bit but it works well. You may be able to do the paper clip thing but most train store carry the piano wire. Another bonus is it\'s really really strong (it\'s what they use to make people fly in the movies). One minus? It\'s really really strong. Don\'t use you good clippers on it. Get the old ratty pair out of the tool chest.

Or get a piano-wire cutter. They\'re expensive but useful for clipping hard stuff like this (even sewing needles).
