Fur! Alright, and scales.


I know to many of you this sounds kindergardenish, but to me that\'s an achievement. Taken into account that I\'m not exactly good with sculpting. Just wanted to share

must admit that these things start off as being easy but once other things are mastered, then turn out to be bloody difficult to do well. we want pictures!

How do you do scales?

I did them for my dinosaur but putting a layer of brown stuff over the apoxysculpt body, then carving each scale one by one.

Have you discovered a better way?

@StarFyre: flowers accepted, but teddy bear?! As in, a stuffed fluffy animal with ribbons and all? Ok, it might be a common misconception that ladies like teddybears ... but I absolutely hate those! Seriously.

scales

another way is to make tiny balls of greenstuff and push them onto the mini/area to be sculpted and flatten them with a sculpting tool and leave them circular or just nudge the edges with a scalpel/sculpting tool.

i did a lizardman conversion somewhere on the original wip thread. now if i could only find it.............:]

Hey way to go Margo, I can\'t sculpt all that well either, so I know how you feel.

@ medves, looks cool man. nice job. I may have to use that technique some time.

Medved, yes, that\'s the technique I thought I would try (impressive one, btw!), but then Ming-Hua (minimaker) made this little tutorial, and I thought I\'d give it a try. Plus, I bought myself a nice set of sculpting tools (wax carvers they\'re called) and they worked just fine.

to continue to improve sculpting buy a rubber tipped brush for smoothing, it is wonderful

I read somewhere that an assist to get really smooth surfaces was to use a thin oil or cream to keep the tools from sticking.

If you look at the stuff the SCIBOR puts up you\'ll notice that he must use a set of templates with engraved detail to make all the figures he(she) does so quickly.
