I could use a lot less buckles, buttons, and brigandine armore in my life

This is one person's appeal to all those game companies out there producing super busy miniatures that require epic levels of painting time. Nothing wrong with doing that on those army generals out there, standout figures, or display models...if you like complexity, go right ahead! Those models are meant to draw the eye. I'm talking about the grunts, the masses, the miniatures that are going to disappear into the swirl of the battlefield, and those that are specifically meant for gaming.

For years, there have been a plethora of buckles, myriads of straps, constant individual plates and studs all over nearly every model in some game companies. In my one person's opinion, this is counterproductive to the miniature world, in both purchasing and desire to put to the tabletop a useful number of miniatures. Also less problematic for the 5-10 figure skirmish game, and yet no company I know of that makes miniatures wishes to stop at making games where people purchase only 5-10 miniature armies.

If you like buckles, and buttons, watch chains and fancy pants, more power to you, I'm not coming down on you. I would just rather not see them everywhere. Even if you love them, it loses its impact. Right now I'm in the process of painting CMON Hate figures, but it's not fair to pick on CMON alone, when there's Privateer Press out there, and so many other companies doing the same thing. Note: Hate doesn't use large armies, but it has a ridiculous amount of miniatures and I think all of them are incredibly busy ( I still love you CMON...)

Who does it right? How about Hasslefree miniatures, possibly the most appropriately named company in the industry. Those are a pleasure to paint! And if I want to add detail, like striped pants, or put a bit on for some charater, I can, it's up to me! And I know Hasslefree isn't making massive army based games, but that goes to prove the point even more, that you can do miniatures without putting 3 clocks and a monocle on everything ;)

Anyway, the opinions expressed here are mine, disclaimers, blah blah blah. I figured to post it here because people here care. Even if they may disagree with me!
