I don\'t know if it\'s art, but I like it!

Funny as hell.

I don\'t think I\'d want to spend too much time with the dude who did the first one. But I could defo kill a case a beer with the dude who did the second one.
ironically i think the first guy could use the beer more!!

I think the first one is incredibly well painted. Looking at the artist\'s website and all of his other paintings (particularly the landscapes) I am very impressed. That impressionistic style really appeals to me.

As far as the politics are concerned, I personally don\'t like mixing politics and art regardless of the political party (and I know many people believe art and politics go hand in hand. I don\'t, though. We will have to disagree:) ) I like art for art\'s sake. Color theory, composition, rendering, technique, etc... That\'s my preference.

Although I do agree with about 80% of his beliefs, that\'s a different story. I do think it\'s funny how much grief he is getting from the media, where art of the left-wing nature tends to get praised. That\'s just my observation...

As to the second \"artwork\"... might be seen as a little offensive and degrading (though I\'m sure the first painting could be seen the same way to others).

Could you an example (or two) of left-wing artwork?

either one to me is art. Art can include whatever they want be it a opinion or just nonsense (ie pollock)
Neither are my cup of tea but i dont read every magazine and/or book either.
im sure he can sell his paintings for a hell of a lot more now
lol

This is one in particular I was referring to:
Bush-Legacy9.jpg

Plus the rather famous Obama HOPE poster (though there is a copyright infringement lawsuit currently going on. The AP is suing the artist for using one of their photographs as a reference).

Simply typing \"bush artwork\" in google images will bring up dozens of left-wing art that I have seen on the news and other sources. Not much negative media coverage concerning artwork of GW Bush (honestly I don\'t approve of many of Bush\'s policies, so I\'m not trying to sound bias. I\'m more of a third party voter (conservative-leaning Libertarian)).

However, recently we\'ve had a TON of negative media coverage involving this image:

I just find a lot of this stuff rather curious... Just saying.

Cheers

So many of these pics remind me of the old illuminati card game and all the other stuff associated with it. Love it!

Good pull Matt, I saved the hell out of that image!

Well that is I guess \"left-wing\" art (the bush one of course. I can\'t say I ever saw it mentioned either in any sort of light (positive or negative) before though. First I had seen of it.

I think the issue people have with the obama pic is their percieved belief (don\'t know if it is valid or not) that there is a racial element to it\'s use (like it is a grotesque version of the blcak and white minstrals). Personally I think it is a cool picture - but then I like the joker!

That Obama pic definitely toys with blackface iconography. Certainly could be perceived as a commentary on his supposed racsism towards whites that I\'ve heard spouted by various f***wits who don\'t like the idea of a black face in power....

Matt; Impressionism that painting is not. Look up Monet, Manet, Renoir and the other impressionists.

Yes he so hates his mother and grandparents. Evident from his leaving the campaign trail to visit with his dying grandmother!

But still my understanding of the origns of the image was it came from some college grad who was just pissing about and thought it looked cool. WHat people have since used it to mean could be something completely different.

Oh and I have certainly been called a liberal in the past (although the label is as meaningless as any other as I have \"conservative views on some issues) BUT I think that George Bush poster is dull, lacks any real insight and is generally uninspiring. I think the artist lacks imagination.

Believe me, I understand my paintings :)

I guess I should have said \"the impressionistic, painterly qualities in his style really appeal to me...\"

I am referring to color choices and brush strokes. Of course it\'s not Van Gogh with the thick brush strokes and vibrant colors, but it attributes to the first impressionists.

The particular use of color in the first post is something attributed to modern impressionists such as Larry Seiler (one of my favorites). See some of his very impressive plein air paintings here: http://larryseiler.com/pleinairgallerypage1.htm

Curt Walters is another: http://curtwalters.com/

See what I mean? :) Hope that clarifies things.

Cheers,

-Matt

My issue with it is that:
1) it\'s vapid, idiot scaremongering
2) The character of Joker is hardly a \"socialist\", so it\'s not even ideologically accurate scaremongering
3) it isn\'t even humorous, a mortal sin IMO
