I don\'t like this \"registered votes\" thing

Perhaps, certainly the obvious person on CMON is Tony Manero, sometimes he gives lower scores but he always backs it up.

@ Redsevenblue, I disagree, just because you are registered doen\'t mean your vote is somehow more \'correct\'. All it means is that you took the time to register, you can still snipe, pad, whatever.

Tony is an exception when it comes to bluntness (and often goes overboard with his put downs IMO). Most people find it hard to look someone in the eye (metaphorically speaking) and tell them they aren\'t as good as they think.
As has been said the registered votes will be averaged out anyway and with the programme getting rid of rogue low scores it will be almost impossible to snipe without going to a hell of alot of work.

I don\'t get instant 10s for Christ\'s sake!

It\'s not as if every voter even reads my write-up at the bottom is it? And I never saw any rule stating that I wasn\'t allowed to put it there.

It\'s up to you to make of it what you will but I won\'t be flamed for it. Do you think my scores are all instantly made ridiculous just because I write that at the bottom? Are they all instantly nullified, and I deserve to get a 6 rather than an 8?

*edit* In fact, I think you do. You commented a 6 on my last mini.

I also notice that my best rated mini has now moved down by .2 in very few votes, which after posting in this thread I doubt is a coincidence.

Bill, If you read the Terms and Conditions the site is supposed to be for people aged 18+.
However non of the Moderators or Administrators \'police\' this because we all want to see great painted mini\'s and help people develop into better if not superb painters. (Plus it would be a huge pain in the Ass.)

But what I think is being said here is that putting \"I\'m only 13\" on your first mini posted is acceptable, but posting 38212 all with \"I\'m only 13\" is not providing any further useful information and if I\'m reading these forum comments correctly it\'s making people think you are looking for age related sympathy votes. (Sometimes known as the \"Ahh he\'s only 13 , isn\'t that cute\" factor.)

As it is, you paint better than a lot of the adults I see in local stores.

I seem to be having a problem viewing this registered vote thing. would be nice to see what all the fuss is about.

Hoblit;

on the main page, there\'s a tick box to switch on what we\'re talking about.

Originally it was default on, now you have to switch it on

Thanks Orb

I should have seen that, but I\'ve been having a bit of a blonde day.

edit: woohoo, my registered votes are all below the actual score, but even so I still have a 5+ mini. :bouncy::bouncy:

Hi, i have a question: i\'ve just received an 1 on one of my minis, i remember that usually the 1\'s were removed automatically but maybe i\'m wrong, how works the 1\'s thing with the new system?

there\'s no new system, just a new way of reporting the scores.

If you received a 1, and it falls outside of the overall average, that \"1\" will be removed at a set time, not automatically cancelled out.

wait until tomorrow and it will be removed (unless you average 4, for example)

I think it probably is registered users who are sniping - they are the people ho have something to gain from the whole affair. Especially those of a similar level to you - they can move you up or down the ratings ;)

But I also dont think its as bad or as common as everyone says - my most recent mini has moved up and down from 9.1 to 9.5 repeatedly, but appears to be settling slap bang int he middle ;) Its just the nature of what we do

I think it\'s a grand little convention. Registered voters are putting me consistently 0.1-0.2 above the base score so does that mean people are generally nicer and less likely to mark harshly, or does it mean that the majority of registered folk, being painters themselves, see more in a piece and overall mark ever so slightly higher?

I must confess to doing the rounds on a few names in the top 200 and looking at what the painting fraternity here thinks of their works as opposed to the great unwashed and the registered all in together, and some drop on average 0.5 to 1.0 on pieces when only taking the registered votes into account

What does it all mean?

Are there fanboys who are unregistered doing a lot of padding to achieve the high scores overall? Clearly, among the registered voters, these works are far less valued and shown to be over-inflated.

This has put the cat amongst the pigeons indeed!

I did notice a certain painter has a registered average quite a bit lower than the non registered one on a lot of submissions.

EDITED for the sake of global peace.;)

Ah, but that particular lass is probably subject to both fanboys and the reverse effect, such is her relationship with the public lol

I assume I\'m on the same wavelength. She polarises opinions to put it mildly :D

Its very interesting to look at actually.
Lets just say the painter I looked at would see an average score of 9.68 drop to 9.4 which would put them at no 41 in the top 50 instead of no6.
The others could drop as well though.

And please before anyone starts this is an observation and not a dig at anyone.

Maybe a registerd vote top 50 would be cool.

I was thinking that. Be very interesting. I\'ve had a little bit of a look through the top 50 and their registered votes. I think Kirill would be the new number 1 and Adrian would be very high too.
