I found THE SUPER GLUE!

I believe I have found THE super glue.

I have had a bottle of Loctite 404 that I picked up in the Aerospace Industry that made its way home with me when I brought my tools home (no it wasn\'t theft). Anyhow, I\'ve been running low on it lately and I\'ve got a big project that I am working on so I figured it was time to pick up some more glue.

So I got Zap-A-Gap. That\'s crap. Outright crap - if you have a bottle, throw it away, if you are looking to buy a bottle, don\'t waste your money. Hell if you really want a bottle, send me postage and I\'ll mail you mine, used once and never again.

Since that didn\'t work my wife went to the Home Depot and went through the isle, gave me a call and read off everything that was there and came across some Loctite. After reading through twelve or so of them she finally homed in on one that would work for me.

Loctite Super Glue - Precision Max.

This stuff is GREAT!

If you\'ve been doing this for any amount of time, you\'ll find yourself glueing together bitz, miniatures and other things that break and sadly, might have to sit there for a minute or five holding something in place as still as possible so that you don\'t screw it up. I even had to do that somewhat with my old Loctite.

This stuff here, you litterally put it on, place the two peices together and two seconds later its a done deal. No holding, no adjusting. I put something on backwards yesterday by accident and in the second I realized it was damn near done and had to pry it apart and turn it over real quick. The stuff litterally adhears in seconds.

I\'ve used it on metal miniatures as well as plastic ones and there is no melting or any of that. Good stuff.

So, there is my advertisement for this stuff. Get it - it\'ll save you time and frustration.

I\'ll take your word for it! After all, you know A LOT about frustration, right? :]lol
Seriosly, though, I\'ll see if I can find it here. My superglue is running out, so I\'ll need to get some anyway!

nice to know...

First things first. I friggen hate superglue, but in this hobby it seems to be a necessary evil, so I put up with it.

I do have \"zap a gap\" and just have to say that of all the superglues I\'ve use, this seems to be the easiest, but it is also a pain in the butt, so I will take your word for it mr. frustrated.

I have taken to using a \'superglue accelerator\' which makes superglue bond instantly with just one little spray. But that is messy, stinky and not always effective (plus how does it make the superglue set INSIDE the join?)

I will head out to the HOME DEPOT asap. But don\'t worry, only your reputation is on the line....lollol

i will still stick with my Bondini.

almost the same if you get the super strength version.

but the lower tensile \"Everything Gel\" only takes a minute and gives my time to make sure i got the bit where i want it.

AND it is formulated to react with saliva and harden instantly so you dont swallow it.

sad thing is i gotta drink lots of water when i am gluing or my mouth gets dry from spitting on my minis to accelerate the curing process.

Frustrated - where did you get it? Could you maybe buy some, and ship to me and I can paypal you the cash?

The stuff is made out of Ireland and shipped over here for Canada and USA (so it says on the bottle) so I imagine folks on the other side of the ocean can find it easily. One would think anyhow.

As for reputation, well its sullied as it is but hey, I stake what little I have on it. The stuff is quick (remember, don\'t put something on backwards, you may not have the time to readjust it) and it holds VERY well. Matter of fact I used it on a miniature today as a test and tried \'breaking\' it. Bent the plastic but not the cork or the spare leg I put on it.

I bought the stuff at Home Depot Starfyre but I imagine that you could find it in most hardware places. There are about fifteen different types of Loctite though so make certain to get the \'Super Glue - Precision Max\' one.

If for some reason you can\'t find it though, I\'ll be happy to mail it to anyone that wants it. Don\'t think it was too terribly expensive (three or four dollars). Have to ask the wife since she did the purchasing for me.

As for finding a link online, yeah I googled it too earlier to give a picture of the stuff but didn\'t find anything online. I\'ll shoot a picture of it tonight and put it online in this thread when I can.

Isn\'t that funny.......

......I\'ve used Zap-a-Gap in the past with only excellent results, always a good strong bond :)
At present I\'m using \'Mitre Mate\', it\'s actually primarily aimed at kitchen/bedroom fitters for gluing... you guessed it... mitre\'s on cornice/pelmets trim around fitted cabinets. It consists of the Cyano\' & accelerator, it costs about £7, but you get 50g (thats 10 x\'s whats in a GW bottle), you do the math :D

Just checked - my bottle of Loctite has a black top and is not labled Precision Max.

Still works ok!

The best thing about it is that it is the only Superglue I\'ve ever used that I have been able to get the top off the bottle the second time I wanted to glue something!

I usually get mine from railway modelling shops, they usually have 25g or 50g bottles for a fraction of what it would cost for a similar quantity from GW or hardware shops

I can vouch for the lock Tite stuff I personaly use the gell form of the stuff though...fills in cracks that you mighta normaly missed :innocent:

Ditto on getting it at Wal-mart (ie. the evil empire, if I they would just sell W&N series 7 minis.........)

This stuff is awesome. Bonds well and quick enough that I don\'t develop hand cramps. Yet gives me enough time to make sure I have those little bits where I want them. The bottle design is a dream and lets me put just enough exactly where I want it.

I\'ve been using Loctite thread lock for years with paintball. It\'s wonderful stuff and Loctite makes alot of other great products.

No doubt this glue will be great.

I use this stuff too, get it from local newsagent.
