You must have missed the debate...

..where BME tried to pull Mr Cult up for misquoting Dune before...
Steel\'s signature was part of the riposte..:D

Damn Tuubje, that must have been a really slow blade if its only getting through now - although dont feel bad - a buddy of mine just got a line from Mel Brook\'s History of the World - the one where Oedipus is begging and recognizes Josephus (Gregory Hines) and Hines replys \"Whats up Mother F*****\" lol

I have to agree with BME on this one...

Dune is also my favourite sci-fi film, despite what some folk have considered strange casting...:D

I hate to be a purist, but I like the books better - well until you get beyond God Emporer - then they just go downhill in my opinion - but I havent read the House books that Herbert\'s son put out yet. Actually, I\'ve been kind of afraid of reading those because of the bad experience I had with the Book of Lost Tales -

I really like Brad dourif, such a weird fellow.

Finn, are you talking about the new (2000) version or the 1984 David Lynch version? Tuubje is refering to the earlier one which had Sting as Feyd Rautha - Dourif played Peter De Vries in a truely bizzare rendition - and he rocked as Grima as well

Cool film...

I absolutely love the film Dune.....as for the actors, it was Lynch\'s usual bunch of groupies - most of them have also appeared in his other films. Blue Velvet (now that is weird), Eraserhead (not even going to comment on this one!), Elephant Man (great) etc

I have read all the books (5 & 6 were a real struggle) and watched the film an un-natural number of times :D

Hallmark channel did a TV version last year (so much better than I thought it would be) and much to my joy, did Children of Dune this year. It was so cool to see past the first 2 books - it was kinda like a stuck record!

Now if only we could get our hands on the original Directors cut and see more of what Lynch had in that insane mind of his..... lol

Eraserhead rules..

I remember the first time I watched Eraserhead, I couldn\'t sleep that night and took the next day off work by throwing a \'sickie\', just so as I could go into London and track down a copy on video. That man Lynch had access to my nightmares and I still want to know how he did it...:D

I was referring to the Lynch movie. I thought most of the casting was inspired. Sting was sensational, just as I had imagined Feyd Rautha. Brad Dourif can do little wrong in my opinion, \'Thingy\' as Chanii was brilliant but I still can\'t wrap my mind around wossisname as Paul. He always looks like a double glazing salesman to me.

The bloke who played Duke Leto is one of my favs as well, even though I can\'t recall his name at the mo. Brilliant in \'Das Boot\'!

Another person whose name slips me but who \'played a blinder\', was the planetarian chappie, who was supposed to supervise the change over from Harkonnen to Atreides...

The competition is...\"Fill-in finn\'s failures\"
Help an old man with a crap memory...name those actors and earn yourselves absolutely bugger all:D

Lets see -
Paul Atradies - Kyle MacLachlan
Chani - Sean Young
Duke Leto - Jürgen Prochnow
Liet Keynes - Max von Sydow

My favorite was Richard Jordan as Duncan Idaho - too bad the recent version killed him under a rock instead of hauling off the body like in the book.

See - no problem if you know the secret - www.imdb.com

lol:bouncy:lol :p
